It doesn’t seem organic. Protest posts would get 95% upvotes, then suddenly 12 hours later get slammed with bootlickers and downvotes.

It also keeps his friends working who aren’t in front of the camera. If he can take a vacation and get a solid payday for a bunch of people, why not?

Lemmy.world has open account creation, while Lemmy.ml requires an essay to create an account. For that reason, I believe .world has more users. But you can access content from either one no matter which you make an account on. Similarly, you could pick another instance or even host your own and still see and post content to other instances in the Fediverse.

I’ve tried out Mlem and Memmy, and so far I have preferred Memmy. The dev has been improving it at an insane rate too, so if you don’t love it yet, just wait a couple weeks and check again.

I think some instances have profile pics disabled? I’m not entirely sure though.

I think if you credit the original poster, it’s a great idea to grab some of the bestof Reddit posts. There is a lot of really incredible content that could disappear. Combined with Imgur removing a lot of anonymous content from the past decade, sadly it seems like there could be a lot of valuable information that gets lost.

Also, this is my first comment after being on Reddit for 15 years! Where did the time go… I’m glad Reddit didn’t track our hours.
