So I agree that Steam's UI is... not the best in general. And the "Great on Frame" list could be way easier to find on the desktop client. That said, at least for me, when I open the store page on the Frame itself "Great on Frame" is the default page, and then if you scroll down a bit there's a list of tabs for different categories, one of which is VR. You can also go to the "VR Titles" page (which has a dedicated button in the Frame's store on the upper left) and each game should have a little icon in the top right indicating how it plays on the Frame. (✅, ❔ or 🚫)

Definitely agree that the VR + Great on Frame titles should be highlighted better though. Isn't that the whole point of the thing?

but also if the thought of being "stuck as a girl" is upsetting to you then that says a lot. Many trans people find that a lot of the subtle aspects of life that they don't like and either barely think about or just assume are normal are in fact dysphoria, but it only starts to make sense once they accept themselves.

Small sample set aside, the performance differences here are much bigger than I’ve seen in previous linux comparisons. Something has to be off right? Curious if anyone is able to reproduce these results.

Unfortunately the reviewer doesn't seem to mention a bunch of details about how the games were actually played such as, critically, which version of Proton he used. CachyOS ships its own version of Proton which pulls in a bunch of bleeding-edge features with significant performance impacts. I'm not sure if that Proton is used by default or not though; it may depend on the specific launcher used and configuration. Without knowing that, it's going to be difficult to attempt to reproduce his results.

Yeah while I'm sure there were plenty of nerds rocking old Thinkpads at the time too, I don't think the counterculture of resisting new tech hype was quite at the swell it is now. In 2010 fighting over Android vs iOS and whether the new HTC phone was gonna be an iPhone killer was a pretty big part of "nerd" culture. In some ways I'm not sure that's changed, other than perhaps the type of devices we lust over being different. (The Steam Deck is totally gonna kill Windows guys!)

Yeah I think the commonality in these behaviors is that they serve to enforce the social order. Whether they realize it or not, that's what they're doing, and viewing it through that lens makes it much more clear what's going on.

Huh, that's odd. I wonder if that's a newer update? (I'm opted into the client beta IIRC. Obviously you shouldn't have to do that to find games that work on the new console you just bought.)

But yeah exactly, the whole point in searching for VR games FROM THE FRAME ITSELF, should be to show you games that are compatible with it natively. Not games that require a computer, and to stream to the frame.

I tried Tuesday's and was a bit disappointed since the optimal strategy was sort of trivial and cut out the entire course. I liked this course a lot more though! There were a lot of tricks to incrementally improve your score and I spent a while whittling away at it.

Yeah, so far I enjoy it when the best strats involve cuts that are interesting or still interact with most of the course, but some days it's just grinding a corner bounce to skip the entire thing and that's not fun to me.

Oh wow, that's really bad. I just checked on a lemmy instance and it has the same issue there, so this must be a discrepancy in how different fedi clients handle line breaks. (I guess voyager by extension probably follows lemmy conventions.) I'll update my post and try again. It's frustrating that it's this inconsistent.

I'm confused; this looks fine on my instance and I previewed it on piefed.ca and it seems fine there too. Are you using an app? Which lines are formatted poorly?
