Some general thoughts on be(e)havior
Man, you're right, and I've already been guilty of letting my emotions guide me in political discussions on here. Its difficult sometimes to remember that the people you're arguing with often have their own personal, emotional reasons for their beliefs. You've made an excellent post.

What is your favourite Lemmy community, which is not on lemmy.ml?
I quite like ![email protected] It migrated from reddit, and the mods run their own instance rather than just making a community on lemmy.ml

Reddit has permanently suspended my account for supporting Lemmy.
Today I'm gonna run one of those edit and delete scripts for reddit accounts, and I want my last message to be one promoting this place as a viable alternative :).

calling Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky “sweaty and rat-like”
Huh, someone here on lemmy who claims to be a leftist was saying exactly the same thing, down to the same insults of zelenky's appearance. I wonder if some of the tankies on here are straight up just republicans larping as "leftists"?

I liked the former. I know many people like the latter. Those people are welcome to their corporate slums.
You've worded it well. I think the technical nature of it is to its benefit, and many server may not want to make the signup process easier, for the reasons you mentioned.

Defederation cuts off the connection between two servers both ways. In this case, it would actually prevent facebook from harvesting data from these servers, and the server would not get any of the facebook server traffic.
That all being said, the objection to facebook joining the fediverse is partly a moral one, and a fear that facebook will try to EEE the fediverse (as in, embrace, extend, extinguish) like they did with other protocols.

A helpful list of logical fallacies
This is excellent, thank you. I especially like that it includes the "Fallacy fallacy" as some people tend to dismiss everything the moment their opponent makes a mistake.

Aw, this is a wonderful idea. I like the idea of spreading the positivity into the real world.

The time to streamline Lemmy onboaring is now. Let's do it like mastodon did.
Oo, I hope this posts gains traction, you're totally right, although I speak from the perspective of someone who started out not knowing shit about fuck with federated social media, to being exclusively on it now.

Diablo IV is the fastest selling Blizzard game of all-time
Interesting, but I worry that blizzard is gonna blizzard and slowly destroy it with monetization, and then never learn their lesson as people buy their games again and again.
