Lemmy, what are some of your "oh shit" work stories?
Not my oh shit moment but certainly someone's. Working in a call centre they sent out an example of a fraud email that was being sent out with our logo. It asked for all your personal information and credit card information.
Several individuals replied with all their details filled in. 3 of them replied all (entire call centre) with their details filled in.

It's always worth asking for a bike rack!
If you can, send a reply saying thanks or something. It helps get more added at other locations.

Racism Is Why Trump Is So Popular
They fear becoming a minority.
clutches pearls Goodness gracious, someone might treat them like they treat minorities!
That is literally what the white "christians" have been stressing about here. As a minority mutt that "passes", maybe try being less of an asshole?

Man sues Apple for accidentally exposing his infidelity
Declaring it a "very brutal way" for his wife to find out, he believes that there could've been a chance of the marriage continuing had he been able to "talk to her rationally."
I'm not sure if he means he could continue his behaviour without being caught or if he planned on lying and saying it was a one time thing. Either way I highly doubt he had any plans to be honest.
The "talk to her rationally" bit is hilarious. Yes I've been expensively unfaithful, have possibly been exposing you to a number of diseases without your knowledge, and have been physically unavailable regularly for years. What self respecting person wouldn't "rationally" see that as perfectly acceptable! /s

Anybody familiar with optician work able to tell me if this optician was lying?

Searching "optometrist complaint canada" seems to get the different licensing bodies. Reaching out to them would likely get some action.

You know you've always wanted to be a golden retriever.
Their x-large looks impossible for two people to comfortably fit, even in their advertising. Also how wide are the bolsters along the edges? How would a 5'9" person even be able to sleep in the standard? My knees would kill if I had to suspend my legs by my feet in order to lay on my back.

Starbucks is reeling as customers go elsewhere, sales decline

Thanks! Did not know about the Nestle connection. We stopped going to Starbucks when it moved to a fast food type experience vs the cafe feel it had at launch here.
Will be verifying they moved the hell away from Nestle before we consider returning.

Planting mint
Depends on where you live. Mint does have limits. It really dislikes dry and cold. We've planted it several times here and it's quite difficult to keep it alive. Our growing season is quite short so it's a bit depressing to have it die so quickly.

'Call Notes' could be a new Pixel 9 feature that records and transcribes phone calls
Bit torn. This would be amazing when I'm a bit deaf (screw you pollen season). But where is this being transcribed? I strongly suspect that even if it's done phone side Google will send a recording and the text output to home base for "training" purposes.

What's a good habit you developed you'd like to share?
Taking a full breath of air before chugging liquids. I accidentally exhaled before choking on some water once, body naturally tried to pull in air and got more water. Very much felt like drowning.

Restaurants sit half-empty in Turkey this summer as inflation reaches 91% in places sending tourists and locals flocking to neighboring Greece
The images of menus from ~3 years ago have prices that line up with the average monthly wages. The recent photos of menus have the prices blanked out.
The "new" price of ~850 TRY for a single serving is over 25% of the average monthly wages (2900-3200). The site providing wages doesn't specify if that's the average earnings before or after tax either. Prices on older menus are more like ~50 TRY for the same item.

Also vitamin K. Had low vit D blood work and doc upped vit D intake until we started to see side effects, still low on blood work. Added vit K, halved vit D intake and blood work is good now.

Kebab war ignites as Germany fights Turkey over food protection
It's interesting to me that Turkey wants to restrict döner. The examples are specific like Neapolitan pizza not pizza and jamon serrano not jamon or serrano.
Personally I'm against it as it seems excessively broad. If they force it through I hope local businesses just use donner or donere or something.
