Rainy Day Ginger Bug
I'm starting my ginger bug today. I will use it to make ginger beer and maybe a few other beverages.
I have to look up some additions.

"NASA's Earth Observatory brings you the Earth, every day: images, stories, and discoveries about the environment, Earth systems, and climate."

The left is plain Kombucha, the middle has blueberries and the right is hibiscus. I added two teaspoons of sugar to each bottle as a test. I'll add more sugar if needed.
From the original batch, I used two cups to make another gallon.
"NASA satellites document how our world—forests, oceans, human landscapes, even the Sun—changes over months, seasons, and years."

The SCOBY and one gallon container was delivered earlier today. I also bought eight 1 liter flip top bottles will be delivered tomorrow.
The first few will be plain Kombucha before I start making some with different fruits.
Chicken katsu is my favorite version of fried chicken.
Heat oil to 350f/176c. I use peanut oil. Flatten chicken and season with salt and pepper. Beat eggs in a bowl. Coat chicken with flour and let rest for ten minutes. Dip chicken in egg then press into panko, aka japanese style bread crumbs. Fry until cooked and lightly season with salt.
I served this with shredded iceberg lettuce since I didn't have cabbage. The lettuce is lightly salted.

This is a recipe from a cookbook that I doubled since I was planning on giving some to family.
As you can see from the photos I had to change my pots to accommodate the amount of food.
I didn't have the right cut of meat so I used what I did have. Also, steaming the couscous over the pot didn't work for me and had to use a dedicated steamer to fully cook the couscous. I did over cooked certain vegetables so if I ever make this again I will have to time them better.
It was under seasoned at first but when I added more salt the flavors were more pleasant.
While I used there book for the recipe, it is also available online.

There is apparently a service that will offer dropping woodchips or logs at your house for free. Arborists will do this instead of paying fees to dump them.
While I've been signed up for a while, I haven't received any drops but I thought others would like to try.

This is my first time having Gumbo. Even though I believe I cooked roux a little too much, it was good. It will probably become something I cook once a year.

Planning on reading some Murakami soon and this playlist showed up on my feed. Thought it was interesting and wanted to share.
I'll probably have this on in the background while I read his books. :)
