People with anger issues are the most disrespected

There is a big difference between being angry and acting on that anger.

There are a lot of people who are just as angry as what you are describing, but don't act on it and don't take it out on those around them.

The anger is not the issue, its the lack of self control.

You don't have the right to make the people around you miserable, just because you are angry.

When people are walking on eggshells around you, it is because they are scared, because you have hurt them before, and they don't want to be hurt again.

What feature are you dying for to come to your DE - Linux?

Remote desktop working like it does in windows.

  • easy to setup and use
  • can remote into a system that has been recently rebooted. Without needing to make the user auto login and set the keychain password to be blank.
  • resolution scales to remote client interface

I love linux and it is really all I use but RDP support is severly worse than windows.

I lived in Austin, TX and used to know a homeless guy, Walter Dwight Green 1955, back in '98 that spent winters in jail for public intoxication for the same reasons.

Including name, in case anyone else knew him and wants to chat. He was originally from Kentucky.

I was a teenager at the time but I tried to help him as much as I could.

I had to leave town for a year, when I came back, I found out he froze to death in the winter I was gone.

Looks at the ad in my Gmail

I moved my personal email domain to fastmail. I've been very happy with it. I am using the Standard plan at $50 per year.

It's nice being the customer instead of the product.

They can also host static web sites for no additional cost on this plan. So I canceled my web hosting plan too.

Bad parents are a thing. Children screaming loudly in an indoor environment should be corrected.

I don't think your opinion is unpopular. There are lots of people who will agree with you that libraries should be absolutely silent.

But I don't agree. There should be space for kids to learn to love books. They might noiser that you would like, but kids who love books are a benefit to our world.

Libraries are a community meeting place, one of the last good third spaces left. If you want perfect silence go home.

Libraries are not your unpaid office space.

yep bullshit holidays.

I'm a dad and I love spending time with my kids. I absolutely don't want them to ever feel obligated to hang out with me or buy me a card or present or anything because of some bullshit holiday.

My wife is on all the normal social media, insta, Facebook and such, and has such high expectations for mothers day because it seems to have become some sort of requirement to make a post bragging about what your family did for you on mother's day.

I hate it all so much.

I spend time with the people I love and I frequently tell them how much I love them and do things to demonstrate it too.

mother's day, father's day, valentine's day and Christmas gift giving expectations can all go fuck right off.

Selfhost Media server and NAS

I would install truenas scale on the optiplex and run plex or jellyfin as a app from truenas.

Adding a second large drive for redundancy would be good, also a smallish ssd for the truenas os to run from.

My personal setup takes this level deeper. I have a desktop computer running proxmox. proxmox is installed on a nvme drive. I have a VM running truenas that I have passed my sata controller to. So my 2 10TB sata drives and my 500Gb sata ssd show up as native drives in truenas. The 10tb mirror holds my media library and long term backups. The 500gb ssd is for running apps on trunas like plex, syncthing.
