The problem is not where the money goes. The problem is the increasing nature of it. Typically you pay a single reservation fee and then you purchase the vehicle later. Having a second reservation fee added is not normal.

They just increased the price and made it non-refundable. It is not in any way a deposit, that happens when you actually purchase the vehicle.

Nothing. It's not unnecessary. It's very necessary, especially Windows. They're just shifting their perspective because RAM has gotten so wildly expensive.

I mean Bazzite probably still has better hardware compatibility, as they've been doing it forever. Also look into 'ujust' commands because they're super underrated, along with crazy easy software installations with Homebrew and whole-system single-click upgrades (and even automatic background upgrades) with Topgrade.
