WhatsApp is getting ads using personal data from Instagram and Facebook
It’s unfortunately hard to convert people from WhatsApp to other software, because contacts might care to move but the group will not…

I use Arch btw
Wht does it even matter if you don't install Arch manually? Is the whole point of the arch installing? I don't think so, it's using. If you don't find anything joyful in manually installing arch it's perfectly fine to manually install only once to make sure you know how it works. And just use archinstall in every following installation that's not shamefu

Apoliticism is Monarchism
I don't like to talk about politics because many people gets unreasonable when it comes to politics. So I basically lose the motivation to talk about it. That doesn't mean I lose all my opinions.

Microsoft exec admits it 'cannot guarantee' data sovereignty
at least they are speaking the truth, even if they pretend to be otherwise, you can never entrust data sovereignty to a foreign commercial entity…

Open email ... will it be a game changer?
It's definitely not going to be. The most radical attempt to revolutionize email protocol that has been accepted is Tuta, where they use TutaCrypt instead of OpenPGP. And they are like being criticized af, because nobody actually wants to use TutaCrypt to replace standard encryption protocol. And you still get to send email to others with Tuta, which you can't even do with open.email. I am quite pessimistic on open.email's future.

I would say ikmail is way WAYYyyy more functional than tuta and proton by being compatible with IMAP/SMTP+CalDAV protolcol. Yeah the protocol which doesn't support 2FA and encryption but who cares, it's email.
They have a mobile client which is available on F-Droid. Very elegant and modern UI which satisfy me even more than Google.
They have excellent practice on email security by using DNSSEC and DANE on mail server by default.
Deliverability and spam filtering are also great, competitive with Gmail. Exceeding Outlook and iCloud ofc.
Drawback being kinda hard to register, if not in the listed countries then just use a VPN. You have to provide your phone number too and couldn't bypass dialing checking to purchase a higher tier plan afaik. Not for privacy seekers.
Infomaniak is relatively new in personal email market but has always been underestimated for 3 years since emerging. It's good to see them finally decide to sell their nice ksuite to personal users as long as companies.

What distro do you install on other's computers?
I don't know, my family are really, really not into that. And my dad was an IT guy, he taught me about Linux when I was 10. But now he becomes so burnt out and start to turn back to windows because there are too many compatibility issues (that's what he said, honestly my mind was blown at how he handles it ten years ago but not able to do it now when the compatibility has significantly improved. And he is an IT guy which is the craziest thing because I'm a f*cking mechanical engineer and that huge obstacle did not stop me from dual booting). But if he finally decides to give Linux desktop a chance again I would recommend EndeavourOS+KDE...

First time - which distro is best for me?
Any distro would do, but for server Debian is always the most recommended and used

Choosing a Linux Distro
EndeavourOS KDE Plasma is my favourite! It's really really considerate and inherits all the arch linux advantage :3

Oh, I apologize. I misunderstood your main concern, I though it’s about Google Play instead of Android.
Yes, the only choice for most mobile phones are either Android or iOS. Things like Pinephone and FydeTab Duo exists, but so rare.
