Being nearer your described hardcore fan I admit that sometimes to newer seasons do take some time to grow on me. This feeling goes way back to the first four movies for me. The Hulu releases really seem to convey that the writers are "here under duress". I don't know if it's just that I'm hungry for a fresh taste of our Planet Express crew but I'm mostly enjoying the current broadcast season. Maybe my expectations have adjusted?
