Clean sweep as 3 candidates endorsed by Mamdani win primaries in New York

Reply in thread

Primaries are for selecting who's going to stand in the election.

Theoretically, anyone in the party can vote in the primary (in most states) but normally, it's nerds and diehards that vote. Americans don't get time off to vote, and have been getting "your vote doesn't matter" propaganda for most of their lives.

America has a 2 party system. The far right party are the democrats, the fascist kill everyone if it makes a dollar party are the republicans. The democrat socialists of America are a center right offshoot of the democrat party that are branded by the 2 main parties as the radical left.

They're not advocating for seizing the means of production, or putting billionaires against the wall. "Please sirs lube up before fisting my asshole" is at best center. I'd say forced profit sharing is the bare minimum to be considered center left. In most countries free Healthcare, affordable school, and unions are expectations, not looney lefty ideals.

To be clear, I'm pro DSA. They're our best option.

"See everybody? I'm not on drugs!"

Fun story time: I once got informed of a drug test for a job I'd just accepted after a weekend of hard partying. I was on prescription opiods, Adderall, and ketamine. They called Monday morning at 9 to tell me I had to piss within 4 hours. I hadn't even slept yet. I should have lit that test up like a Christmas tree for everything except thc. It came back clean. They never asked about my prescriptions. I have 2 theories. 1) they don't actually test. 2) if too many things light up, they assume it's a calibration issue.

Hired as a junior sysadmin but it feels like they actually need an IT manager... am I overreacting?

  1. they're under paying you.
  2. if you can get through this hell for 2 years, you'll likely be pretty set as a Windows admin. No joke, I got promoted into a very similar position from being a datacenter tech. I fucked all kinds of shit up, broke everything multiple times, didn't leave the office for days on end. While you're waiting for access to be able to do things, start learning powershell. Don't fix problems, automate solutions. What I mean by that is anytime you fix anything, immediately write a script to fix it next time it happens.

The executive branch enforces the judicial branch's interpretation of the laws passed by the legislative branch. I believe there's a small judicial police department, but really all of the checks and balances we were taught about are gentleman's agreements. If say the legislative branch decides that the head of state is God king of the golden shower, praise be upon him, and the executive branch agrees, it doesn't really matter that the judicial branch thinks it's illegal.

Do Americans really only shit once a week?

Thought this was c/shittyasklemmy. It's not, so here's an earnest response. I'm from the US, but have spent a bunch of time living outside of the country. Every guy I know usually poops daily, but a lot of women only poop every couple of days. It doesn't have anything to do with the cold.

Fun somewhat related story time. I once had a colleague travel to the US from South East Asia. He went to our boss a few days into the trip and said he needed to go to the hospital. My boss eventually convinced him to explain the problem. His poop was a solid mass instead of liquid. Dude had never had solid shit before. It's possible an anecdote like this is what gave your teacher that idea.
