It's Women's Fault

Oh wow, another meme completely disregarding a problem many are struggeling with. But don't worry guys and gals, it's okay because it's making fun of mens' suffering. And men can't be discriminated against.

On another note, has anyone figured out yet, why men are never emotionally available? It truly is a mystery 🤔

/s in case you can't tell.

Realism

I hate that trend, but the reverse is sometimes even more infuriating. No, medieval peasants didn't look like dirty, sickness ridden pigs covered in mud and horseshit!

They looked lile normal people without makeup. If they got dirt on their skin, they cleaned it up and despite not taking baths and showers all the time most people had a daily cleaning routine where they would comb their hair, clean themselves with cold water and a cloth and just generally take care of themselves. Rotten teeth did exist, but unless removed, they would often lead to death. So people did their best to avoid having them.

We did it! 🥳

Absolutely what everyone else says. Keep signing. There's a good chance this petition could reach the most signatures ever for a EU Citizens Initiative. I believe the current record is 1.7mil.

It's no contest

Honestly, I found the episode pretty hilarious. And it was'nt even really offensive towards trans women. I always thought the joke was more on Douglas' fragile ego than anything else.

But yeah, sucks what's become of the author.

nobody in webdev knows what graceful degradation is anymore

If it's a standard webpage that only displays some static content, then sure.

But everything that needs to be interactive (and I'm talking about actual interactivity here, not just navigation) requires Javascript and it's really not worth the effort of implementing fallbacks for everything just so you can tell your two users who actually get to appreciate this effort that the site still won't work because the actual functionallity requires JavaScript.

It all comes down to what the customer is ready to pay for and usually they're not ready to pay for anything besides core functionallity. Heck, I'm having a hard enough time getting budget for all the legally required accessibility. And sure, some of that no script stuff pays into that as well, but by far not everything.

Stuff like file uploads, validated forms and drag and drop are just not worth the effort of providing them without JS.

Twitch's largest political streamer, Asmongold, shovels racist and xenophobic messaging to his audience of 52K+ live viewers

Reply in thread

Honestly, and I know I'm gonna get downvoted for this again, but he makes a surprising amount of sense in a lot of topics he touches and it often seems like his responses are well thought through and quite eloquent.

And that's exactly the problem. It makes it really easy for some people to fall for his batshit crazy bullshit takes and it makes him a lot more dangerous than if he was just some crazy Maga nut.

He also addresses a lot of the struggles his predominantly young male audience experiences. Something, pretty much everyone else fails to do. And his arguments only really fall apart once you invest quite some time to look deeper into the matter.

Disregarding Asmongold as just a crazy basement dweller with dead rats in his house might be easy but it's severely underestimating the danger that this man poses if we don't find ways to offer a better save space for his target audience. Although, Dr. K. is doing god's work here!

Praise to the EU. Male chicken shredding has been outlawed since 2022!

Edit: I was pattially wrong about this. The ban is only in effect in some of the members. Namely: Germany, France, Italy Luxemberg and Austria The EU itself is still in the process of deciding on such a law.

I've been gaming on Linux for close to two years now. I believe there have been two games that actually caused some issues in getting them to run. But for the most part Proton does everything out of the box. And especially older games work way better than on Windows. There are no problems with compatibility mode or deprecated WinAPI-Calls. It just works.

The only thing I would advise is to install Steam and all your other launchers via Lutris. That will save you some hassle.
