The Reddit Protest Is Finally Over. Reddit Won.
I won't really call that a win,
Reddit lost the trust of many users, a non insignificant part of contributors and moderators left, the enshittification of the platform is not going to stop but they lost a big part of what made Reddit great. They damaged their image and popularity.
It's like saying Elon won by trashing Twitter. Sure he does what he wants with it but making your platform less desirable sure isn't a win for the platform.

ASUS is apparently killing the ability to root present and future Zenfone, Updated
Reply in thread
Yeah, I'm really tired of this.
We should be able to root and install any OS on our phones like we can do on PC.
I don't use root or custom ROMs on my phone anymore but this is something that should always be possible.

Lemmy growth is crazy!
I'm glad that the Fediverse is thriving right now, I didn't know much about it a week ago, thanks Reddit I guess.

Yeah, I wasn't interested in Twitter, I've heard about Mastodon and the Fediverse, but the Reddit situation is what made me jump into it. I loved the Reddit format so Lemmy was a simple choice.
I hope you won't be too overwhelmed with the current boom of the Fediverse.

Jerboa UI improvements v2
It would be nice to have the app highlight new comments when you come back to the post, like in Boost

Reddit CEO (/u/spez) is going to hold a AMA about the API update
Reply in thread
Lmao, they'll probably beat the EA comment for the record of the most downvoted post/comment, if Reddit doesn't rig the score.

Xbox Cloud Gaming is seeing increased queue times as demand surges

Honestly I hope that game streaming doesn't become mainstream ever, it could mean the end of traditional game ownership. And I think that input lag will always be a thing even with better network speed.
What handheld have you got?

Summary of Reddit CEO u/spez' responses
What a joke of an AMA, those answers were pathetic.

3rd party reddit app redreader avoids the purge (for now)
So the non-commercial thing means that the dev can't show ads and add donations to his app? That's really scummy, they would have to work on the app without any contribution, maybe people could support him elsewhere but idk.

Yeah, in Boost, I used a long press to hide comment, it was harder to do accidentally.

A GNU+linux based competitor to Apple Vision Pro could bring the year of the GNU+Linux desktop if it comes before the other evil companies release similar things
The only company that I know who makes VR tech and is pushing Linux is Valve, but idk if they would consider adding AR in their headsets.
