Great news! The newest FreeTube update, which came out today, fixed the issues of videos not loading.

Doing research into online cults has been a bit difficult, with 764 and children of the waning star being the biggest examples that overshadow smaller accounts (the former not being religious at all), as well as spawnism. So, people of Lemmy, what are your experiences with online cults?
Edit for clarification: I am looking for cults in the traditional sense of the word: a closed off community with a distinct power structure and leader that is revered, with some sort of ideology (preferably spiritual but am open to all stories.)

All of the Canadian youtubers that I watch pronounce the letter z as "zi", as is done in the United States. However, I have read online that it is more common for Canadians to pronounce it as "zed", as is done in the United Kingdom. Is this a regional thing? How do you pronounce the letter z?

I'll go first: Romance is extremely overrated. I am far down on the aroace spectrum where I feel no attraction, so I don't really understand the point of romance fics. I've read a few that were good, but I usually avoid them unless it's something I really want to read. I exclusively write gen except for one crackfic I made. No hate to authors of romance fics, I just find them boring and overdone.

A week ago I made a post about my excitement for switching to Linux. I was unable to do it that day, but I have finally done it today, after a couple complications (I was getting my tech friend to help me). I was scared, but I had no issue with connecting wifi or bluetooth and am having fun setting everything up! I figured out how to do some things with files quite quickly and didn't even have to look things up. It's so fun to figure these out! I am so incredibly happy to have switched!

How do Russians stay private online? IE, connecting to VPNs and TOR, and trying to avoid government surveillance and censorship?
