Are Type-A Personalities the problem with humanity?

It's the problem and the solution at the same time. We arguably wouldn't be where we are today without a certain portion of the population being uber-competitive, and sometimes that competitiveness will flip into ruthlessness.

And a good deal of the ruthless people will not only survive, but thrive, and be able to amass resources to be attractive mates and provide well for children. It's frankly amazing that cooperation hasn't been even more bred out of the human psyche than it already is.

We're now able to see what the future holds as a result of hoarding and overconsumption. The world will thin our herd, and cooperation will become a more valuable trait as available resources dwindle.
