Sarah McBride laughs off Trump’s anti-trans executive order: ‘He just declared everyone a woman’

Reply in thread

This. In much the same way an elder god doesn't give a damn about conservation of energy or the square cubed law, a dictator with effectively un-checked power doesn't care about wording of executive orders or LAWS. Be careful.
Cthulu has woken from eons (4 years) of slumber (not being president) to ravage the planet, while looking like a moldy cheese puff.

Edit: thankfully he's not nearly as powerful as this metaphor implies, but the point stands. The law won't stop him, I don't trust the Dems to stop him, the only thing that will is worker's might.

I said "well you got any jelly donuts?" He said "NAAAh we're out of jelly donuts!" I said "you got any Bavarian cream filled donuts? He said " NAAAh we're out of Bavarian cream-filled donuts!" and so on

That wonderful feeling of seeing that you're not alone

Reply in thread

Only way it could be 'stolen valor' is if you're a trans/queerphobe, & that'd just be called 'lying' & 'a dick move'. Just do what feels right.

I do have a few alternatives though:

If you want to be clear you're an ally, there are ally variants, though I wouldn't recommend going that route unless you have a queer friend/loved one who's happy to call you an ally before doing so. Some cis people claim to be ally's & then continue to buy jk Rowling trash or be weird about pronouns & 'dude'. Don't want to muddy the waters.

Otherwise, you could just get something like the progress pride flag if you don't feel like being specific.

Edit: misspelled 'variants'

Its a stereotype: BMW drivers supposedly tend to not use their turn signals in instances when they should, which can make them less predictable on the road which can be very dangerous.

How would you process the fact that a new friend of yours is a cop? (USA)

All cops means ALL COPS. I've known friends & family who are great people. Loving fathers, caring husbands, cool dudes all around, but they were none the less cops. If you want to still be friends, great, unless you're discussing potentially incriminating stuff, you're probably fine (but even then there are damn good reasons lawyers tell people, innocent or not, to NEVER EVER TALK TO COPS EVER). This is the kinda thing where a relationship must nessisarily be different from the rest of the group, for the safety of yourselves & others. Don't rat out your friend who's got a hungry newborn & no money for babyfood, for instance. Maybe this difference is for the better, maybe for the worse, that's yours to work out.

All Cops Are Bastards, not nessisarily because they, themselves, as individuals, are bastards. But because of the job itself. What it expects of these people, the mentalities/ideas/trained responses it instills in them, the training & culture, what is expected of them, their responsibilities & tasks, how they are conditioned to perform them, the laws they are paid to enforce & how they're made to enforce them, etc. All of these make them a bastard same as any other cop because THE JOB ITSELF IS A BASTARD.

I won't describe how, there's plenty of info out there, & it sounds like you already have some understanding of it. Here's a link or two anyway.

Bottom line, they can still be a friend. Definitely a different kind of friend than you might be used to, possibly not as close a friend as they might otherwise be, but still a friend. But until they get that pink slip, (i.e, get fired or quit) be careful. If not for yourself, than for the people around you who are vulnerable. People of color, women, homeless, mentally ill or different, queer, activist, even those they are closest to, all of the above & more qualify as such. The power he wields has been used constantly to frustrate the lives of the above since their badge was made of silver, & likely will be for some time to come.

All Cops Are Bastards, because the job itself is.

EGPU Enclosures support

I was daily driving an Egpu on my framework laptop with an 11th gen Intel cpu/main board for a few years up until early last year. It did its job, I could play games & run graphically intensive applications, but performance was really bad for the card I was using, which was a radion 6600 (8gb). The problem was the laptop was stuck at only 4 lanes of pcie at gen 1 speeds , resulting in high latency, frequently buggy audio, & poor overall performance for the hardware.

If you have better hardware that fully supports USB 4 & thunderbolt 3+, & is able to link to the GPU at gen 3+ speeds you should have a better experience than I did. If you'd like, I can DM you various resources I've found while I was troubleshooting this setup a few years ago.
