Ok, I admit, I've been lazy and kept using liftoff until the last moment, but that is coming soon with lemmy.world moving to 0.19.x soon.

I totally like how liftoff feels, very lifghtweigth and dark, so looking for a replacement that can manage multiple accounts, has a dark mode, runs in landscape and isn't to big. Any tips other then boost? I have boost and hate it's interface.

Ok, Evernote committed hara-kiri, so time to move on. (no way I'll pay for ransomware) Any tips for good alternatives for Linux/Android platform? My wife used Nimbus note a while back, recovered her account there, ColorNote pops up when looking for alternatives as well.

Also, my wife has about 15k of recepies in evernote, is there an option to export them all and recover them? If not, she knows the most important ones by heart and/or where she found them.

We both run Linux, but I haven't found an evernote application that is still maintained for Linux. (I have a Windows VM somewhere to battle shenanigans like this)

At the moment I've dusted off a guitar and a bass I bought close to 20 years ago, an Ibanez EDB300 bass guitar

and my FrankenFender

a modified/mutilated Fender MusicMaster.

Without more experience then just messing about with a bad accoustic I thought those weren't to bright purchases, but at least I had a chance on getting to learn to play them, although I just started last month. (after fixing the FrankenFender, the added pickup is dead)

When shopping for some useful additions (tuner, neckband, stand) I however found the Fazley FMB218NT

at a very low cost, so I just added it to the basket before checking out. I think for now, buying a fretless bass when just learning to play tops it (for now), although I hope it manages to force me to concentrate more on the left hand.

I guess I'm not the only one that was a tad to enthusiastic when starting, what do you all consider as your (initially) bad decisions and how did they turn out?

Hi,

Now I've automated mt lamps that can work via the socket with kaku units (old and new type mixed) and domoticz with rflink unit, I'm looking to add the light in the hall in the same, easy plug'n'play method. However, kaku only has units you have to build into the circuit instead of just place them between the E27 fitting and the lightbulb.

Is something like this bukeer unit available for Europe and would it work with domoticz and the rflink (rf433)?

As most of the Lemmy users are security/privacy minded, after a question about alternative voices I'm wondering. Why would you allow a virtual assistance to spy on you constantly? (Especially when you don't need to due to other limitations)

And as a side note, is there a way to kill Siri completely on IOS (not just go trough all app settings and disable siri there)? (company phone, so alas not jail broken, Android is rooted and GA has been removed, as is the Google app itself)

I was wondering, I've created 2 communities (game related) and I see I have a few subscribers. Is it possible to see who subscribed?

There are loads of guides on how to do 1 thing in the game on Reddit, how to win all initial boss cars, how to do Legends, how to ...

They have their limitations:

1. they concentrate on 1 aspect of the game
2. they assume every player has the same style of gaming
3. there are almost no options for the payer to adapt to their specific situation/style.
4. they were written a long time ago (pre 'new elite' or even pre Legends)

With this guide I hope to achieve that new players start in a way that fits their interest, that they know why some choices are more suited to 1 situation then others and how sections of the game interact.

To get a grasp of how the game can be started now, I started a tester to check my assumptions (as main was started 29-6-2016 and is over 7y old. Yes, like everybody, I made choices I regret in main. That's called learning.

Warning: As with all advises, it's advice, not an instruction, adapt to your situation and every choice you make is your own.

​

Main goal: Unlocking as many races as I can as early as possible to gain as much cash/gold/cars/parts as possible to get be snugly in the game. (Note, RP is not my main goal during the 1st tiers of the initial story line)

General:

• Don't ask for things that can be found via the search option.
• Don't ask for 'how to tune my incompletely built car' as nobody knows what you have.
• No super NOS is needed, ever.
• When doing the high stakes races, get your car fast enough to be able to win the Boss car with at least 0.2s, pref 0.5s margin. With 0.2s you can mess up on a shift or an early/late nos, with 0,.5s you can mess up more.
• Don't spend resources when you don't need to.
  = Don't build cars when not needed
  = Don't strip cars when you don't need the parts
• Order your garages.
  + Be able to find your cars
  + Know which cars you have

Initial story line:

• When close to moving on to the next tier, wait with the other races for that day until you've advanced. Advancing a tier will increase the rewards per race until you're in T5.

Tier 1:

You get trough the 1st races and have to buy a car for gold. You have to pick a car. Even at the 1st choice moment, there are 2 paths to pick.

1. The Boss 302: Legends car and highest RP per race
   + You'll miss out on the forces customization tutorial
   (you can use the free customization on a T2 or even T3 car)
   - You'll get a maxed one (All fusion slots filled) when you reach rank 20
   (It'll be less useful after rank 20)
2. Any of the other cars
   + You get to pick a better looking/faster one
   (Golf/Fiesta are the fastest 2, GT86 the slowest)
   - You'll have to do the forced customization on a T1 car

In the tester I went for the Boss.

Tier 2:

Here the main choice is:

1. Do you build the Legends 250 GTO
2. Do you build a cash car

With the Tier 1 boss car, you can do the first few crew races and a few Ladder races. Beat Finn ion T2 to unlock Legends. The moment it's available win the 250 GTO and built that. With Restoration Rush and 1 Daily Legends trial you can restore the car. The 250 GTO needs to be built enough, so winning the T1 boss car is crucial, as you need to buy a T2 car and build it partly when you mess up.

When you messed up on the T1 boss car, a restart is an option, but you can also choose to advance with a paid car and use that to finish.

In the tester the game crashed on the boss car. I got it later from support (be friendly), but that was when I was well in tier 3. To get trough T2, I bought an m235i to beat Finn with and switched then to the 250 GTO.

Tier 3:

Can't find a choice option for Tier 3, you need to get trough it and want to get trough it fast. The choice boils down to:

1. Buy a car (M4 is fastest/easiest, Mustang GT is needed as well in Ford Performance) and get it done.
   + Fast
   - 0* car with high probability to get a starred one from a crate the moment you can pull silver crates
2. In Legends, buy the Corvette and restore that.
   + You have a T3 Legends car for daily trials
   (Extra requirements won't unlock until finishing Twin Test)
   - Will slow your progress down a lot

In the tester I went for a cash car (M4 is fastest/easiest), as there was no Prestige cup with a Tier 3 car abd I didn't have keys to pull for crates. When I had, 1st car to drop from silver was a starred M4. (Stripped it for parts)

Tier 4:

1. Use a free Tuners T4 car.
   I'm not sure if that is still an option, I haven't tested this since they restructured Tuners.
2. Rest same as tier 3.

In the tester I was lucky and there was a T4 PC. I opted for that car and it went as I hoped. (was a challenge)

Tier 5:

The choice here is simple:

1. Use the Tuners GR Supra you can win on reaching rank 30
   + You need that car to be built/maxed anyway for the Tuners section + It's free + It's a sub 7s car when at elite level 35 + You'll use it anyway for the Weekly Elite Cup for 32-40 races a week.
2. Buy a cash T5
   (Huracan is the best option, as it's the fastest of the 3 and now parts of the Sports cars Elite set, so you can get it to 5*, eventually)
3. Wait for a 3* version of the cash cars to drop from a crate

A T5 Legends is not really an option, as it'll take weeks to restore (50 days when it's the only one in the Studio) and the parts to upgrade it enough are to rare.

You can wait, as all rewards are maxed, so you don't need to rush on.

In the tester I went for the cash Huracan. It is a 'fixavle' car and it can be used in the Elite Showdown, enabeling me to get more races in.

Legends:

There are 2 methods of restoring:

1. Do multiple cars at a time
   + You get to do more daily trials early on, as you have more chances to be able to enter.
   - It feels slower, as the ? marked components are divided between the cars in the Studio.
2. Do 1 car at a time
   + It feels faster, as you finish cars faster, because ? marked components are for the only the car in the Studio.
   - It is slower, as especially early on you get to do less daily trials. (can't meet the criteria)

Getting components for the cars:

Run the daily Legends trial to get components. You'll get components for:

1. 250 GTO when restoration Rush isn't finished yet.
   You can finish restoring the 250 GTO by completing Restoration Rush and doing 1 daily trial. (can be done in 1 day)
2. Any car in the studio (marked with ? in the rewards screen) when Twin Test is not yet finished.
   When TT is active, restoring multiple or single cars doesn't impact your speed, as there is no other requirement for the race then a Legends car.
3. Alternating between some for a specified car and some for any car in the studio and all for any in the studio.
   When you get an additional requirement (use a T4, min 675 pp,...), the rewards at 5 and 10 races are for a specific car and the reward at race 15 is for any car in the studio. This is the moment you want as many options covered. The best way to do that is to have all spots in the studio filled and have at least 1 car in each tier.

Legends Challenges:

You'll get 6 challenges, each time you need to lock-in 1 extra car.

1. Restoration Rush
   1 car lock-in: 250 GTO
   Get components for 250 GTO
   Daily Legends trial limited to 250 GTO components
2. Twin Test
   2 cars lock-in + Daily Legends trial always gives components for any car in the studio
   + Rewards 1 S6 for each lock-in - Don't pick 250 GTO as it can't be used in next challenge - Don't pick 302 Boss as the S6 rewarded will be for any car in the game (not limited to Legends)
3. Izzy's Explanation
   3 car lock-in
   + Daily Legends trial switches to alternating requirements
   + Pick the cars you used in TT and one extra with most S6 parts
   + Rewards 1 S6 for each lock-in - 250 GTO is not eligable
4. Restoring Faith
   4 car lock-in
   ! Unlocks Countach which you need to lock-in into slot 1 in LND
   + Pick the cars you used in IE and one extra with most S6 parts
   + Rewards 1 S6 for lock-in 1, 3 and 4, so put the car with most S6 in slot 2
5. Legends Never Die
   5 car lock-in: Countach is required for slot 1
   ! Unlocks the S7, which you need to restore to unlock the F1
   ! To finish you need about 5 S6 in each car
   + Pick the cars you used in IE

Get S6 parts for Legends cars:

Every even season there will be Izzy's Assistance will be available for 48 days, where you can lock-in 3 Legends cars. There is a total of 4 of those, marked A - D. Each car needs to run 15 races and can win an S6 at race 15 and unlock the next slot. To win that race, each car need to have at least 1 S6 fited and all fusion slots filled. The biggest advantage however is the crates you get with the challenge. You get 2 free ones (one every 24h) and can buy more for bronze keys. The Loyalty S6 that drop from those have been unique ones until the 1st complete set.

In the tester I picked the DB5 as 2nd car to restore, as it's the easiest car that you get parts for in the Twin Test and I liked it. Next were the NSX-R (Fastest T4) and EB110 (Easiest T5) in the garage. I spread my chances and yes, it'll take a long time, but I can do all T4/5 trials and van even do trials that require cars to be > 675 PP.

Tempe5t Time trials:

The last step, when you're don with the initial story line, is to pick a car to do the time trials with. For T1-T4 you don't have a lot of options, as you probably won't have built more then 1 car. Per tier my advices:

1. The gifted maxed Boss 302
   + It's maxed
   + It's already at a 10& Legends bonus
   + After reaching Elite level 50 it's a 3*
   + After reaching EC 50 the one that started as 0* (this one) is faster then the ones starting as 1*
   + It's with 99.9% certainty the best car you have.
2. The 300SL
   + It's the fastest in T2 at the moment.
3. The Pontiac GTO "The Judge"
   + It's the fastest T3 at the moment.
4. The NSX-R
   + It's the fastest T4 at the moment.
5. Tuners GR Supra
   + You get it for free
   + You'll use it at least 32-40 races a week (WEC)
   + at EC 35 it's a sub 7s car

1. 14.349
   Fastest: Impala
   I used: Audi (Same shift pattern as Impala)
2. 13.030
   Fastest: BMW
3. 11.940
   Fastest: Superbird
   I used: Espada
4. 10.419
   Fastest: Nova
5. 8.985
   Fastest: Charger

Search on YouTube to get vids on how to shift the cars, as they are tricky. (Not as easy to beat as CSR2 bosses)

Remember, CSR Classics got replaced by CSR 2 in 2016 an dthe servers were shutdown in 2018, so the chances are high that it just won't run anymore.

At the moment you can select which list to open, subscribed, local or all. However, when you have multiple accounts, you can't pick on which server.

I have accounts on lemmy.world, lemmy.ml and lemmy.studio configured in that order and selected subscribed as prefered community list. With lemmy.world as top instance in the list I'd expected that to be the 1st to open. However, it's [email protected] that's opened at the start. I'm guessing that's due to alphabetical ordering.

I think it would be useful to be able to select the instance as well as community list. This either by selecting it or ordering the instance list (start with the top one)

I'm one of the mods of the Reddit. The community is still on Reddit, as they voted to stay there. All history is there since the start of the community 1 july '16, 2 days after release of the game.

Currently owning a Jura D6 for my daily shots. Currently testing Picnic 'intenso dark'. It is acceptable, but a tad to strong for the long run I guess. Usually we use the Perla biological, as it tastes ok (better then filtered) and is affordable. (inflation is a tad in the way for better coffee, with the amount of pets we have)
