Firefox Finally Did It (Tab Groups)

Reply in thread

It's a combination of things... I'm a software developer, so I'll often end up with 20+ tabs open while resolving a problem.

  • I don't want to bookmark them because I don't need them when I finish the task.
  • I can't close the tabs until I'm sure everything's working because Google sucks these days and who knows how hard it'll be to find the source again.
  • Relying on browser history is like finding a needle in a haystack. Tasks can take multiple days and 100 different entries in history.
  • I might have "finished" a task that still needs tested and I know it's a bit shaky; I'll want to move onto a new task but keep the most useful references until I no longer need them.
  • I only bookmark pages that I'll need long-term or multiple times. It's already hard enough to keep those organized...

My tab hoarding has only gotten this bad because search engines are terrible now and the amount of AI garbage to sort through makes finding anything useful a pain in the ass the first time; let alone trying to find it a second time.

This typically works, but one time the AI said "Sorry, we're unable to help you. Good bye" and hung up the phone.

Mind you, this was after 10 minutes of going in nonsensical loops of their options... I have never felt so baffled and enraged at the same time.

Social identity is a helluva drug

I think this overlooks how most MAGAs are rural.. and when you live rural you already rely on your neighbors. Most of which are also white and the exceptions are ""one of the good ones."" It's why they can demonize entire demographics and still feeling like a good person since they're good neighbors.

They're not going to stop blaming 'the others' for hardships.. They're just going increase complaints about 'the government' and how much they pay in taxes.

I grew up in Amish country/farmland and it's painful to see how stagnant my family has been over the years.

1 in 4 is a damn lie

I mean.. that's a pretty weird take. Most games have some sort of RNG - whether it be in the background or visibility listed probabilities. That doesn't mean they're promoting gambling.

The outrage over the 18+ rating was partially over other games with actual gambling (monetized loot boxes) are somehow PG / PG-13.

Meanwhile, this game with no in-game purchases and is only thematically about "Poker" is 18+ because it's "promoting gambling".. If the game had an artwork swap they'd see it as a typical deck building rougelite and rate it the same as Slay the Spire.

What are some of your favorite prints/models?

I'll post some of mine to start. My favorites are mostly fun/decorative.

Fun

I'm a sucker for anything dinosaur. The original Flexi Rex was one of my first prints! I absolutely adore the art style of AndreasJoskaSutanto's flexi dinos. My favorite is the Flexi Raptor

Most of the models are for paid members

Notable mention to this (free!) Flexi Dimetrodon by DirkvK that's excellent too!

Decorative

I've been trying to fill the empty spaces on my walls. I printed a bunch of butterflies and bent the wings using a candle. I love how they've turned out! I'll link to some of the ones I've found, in no specific order.

1 2 3 4

I've also been working on a bouquet of flowers, I'll see if I can take a picture of it later to post.

Can you please help me clear some doubts regarding LGBTQIA stuff?

Reply in thread

but it takes literally no effort to use it.

In written text form? Absolutely. It's easy to adjust sentences/correct details before hitting submit.

Verbal conversations? I don't think it's fair to say it takes no effort... maybe it's from ADHD, but simply using they/them reliably took an embarrassingly long amount of time. Neopronouns are a whole different challenge for my ADHD-autopilot'd mouth that's already struggling with forming coherent sentences.

Of course I'm not saying we shouldn't respect their preferences...I just wanted to add my perspective on the 'no effort' part.

I think we need to clarify things a bit here. "Clean hair" and "Shampoo'd hair" aren't the same things.

Everyone should clean their hair. Most people use shampoo for that, but it's not good for all hair types. Curly hair usually suffers with shampoo use.

Which part of DEI do you hate?

Look, everyone agrees the best candidate should be the one that's hired.

Unfortunately, there's no objective truth in how to rank candidates - minus anything obvious. Humans make the choices and humans are prone to bias. Consciously or not, people are going to favor candidates that meet the expected stereotypes for said positions.

There are plenty of studies out there documenting it. For example, resume response rates can vary drastically based solely on the name of the applicant. (The same resume sent to various companies with changes to the applicant's name. Masculine names, feminine names, "white" names, "black" names, etc).

It does bother me if people are hired because of the colour of their skin or because of their gender and not because they were the best candidate.

Statements like these are easy to cling onto and rally a false narrative. They're something ""everyone"" should agree on at a first glance. They miss the underlying issues and the driving force behind various movements.

I feel you, and agree with most of it.... buuutttt I think it's even more frustrating to know you had a good reference that was closed and then spent a stupid amount of time to find again.

Everyone has their own workflow, whatever works.
