Anti-ICE protests start forming in New York City, Austin and Santa Ana

Reply in thread

If the Feds are willing to illegally federalize National Guard troops, and the National Guard in any given state is willing to obey those orders, it tips the scales significantly. States need to start taking measures to ensure their National Guard is truly under their control. These are the "well regulated militias" referenced in the second amendment, and if they are subject to the whims of a federal tyrant, then the second amendment is moot.

Orders for these purposes shall be issued through the governors of the States or, in the case of the District of Columbia, through the commanding general of the National Guard of the District of Columbia.

As Newsom stated in his letter, the order was not issued through him, therefor not pursuant to the law, or in other words, illegal.

What the fuck is going on with Iran and what will happen next?

This is probably the best comment here so far. To emphasize the interceptor missile point, the US yesterday pulled interceptor systems from South Korea. You know, the place next to the nuclear-armed country that likes to lob missiles into the ocean just to show off. It should go without saying how dire the situation is if the US is redeploying interceptors from South Korea. Once interceptor stocks are depleted, Iran will be able to consistently, successfully strike targets inside US allied territory. There are some rumblings that Iran's success rate is already increasing. Once this happens, Iran has the US & Israel backed into a corner even more than they already do.

Obama releases rare statement on ‘Russia-gate’ after Trump accuses him of ‘treason’

The national intelligence director said she was referring Obama administration officials, including ex-FBI director James Comey, to the Justice Department for prosecution over allegations they had “manufactured” intelligence to substantiate the idea that Russia interfered in the 2016 election to help Trump beat Obama’s former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

James Comey, huh? The guy who dropped the email scandal in October 2015 and handed the election to Trump? That James Comey?

Chiropractic in the US refers exclusively to the practice of musculoskeletal manipulation and "adjustment". Yanking on and twisting joints to get them back into the "right" position. It can work in specific circumstances, but can also further exacerbate some conditions. Someone who is only a chiropractor typically does not or is not allowed to administer invasive procedures such as the cortisone or lidocaine shot that I assume you got. That's reserved for actual doctors here. Sounds like the person you saw would be more likely be a physiatrist or physical therapist in the US.

Basically chiropractic is a separate education/licensing process, and requirements vary by state. Most states, for instance, don't require chiropractors to carry malpractice insurance. That means if they put you in a wheelchair, they declare bankruptcy and start a podcast or become a personal trainer or some shit, and you get to battle them in court while in crippling pain, and then max out your insurance deductible every year for the rest of your life. People who practice chiropractic may have additional qualifications and licenses allowing them to write prescriptions and do minor invasive procedures such as injections, but that's not too common.

Well, Newsom is suing which is... fine. I think he should deploy his remaining 20k troops to kick the (4700 and counting) feds out, but that's playing with fire. Going forward, as I suggested, states need to make sure they control their Guard deployments. This could take the form of legislation or executive orders at the state level, or, since it's already federal law that the orders go through the governor, a simple memo informing the Guard that anyone from command down to rank & file will be immediately arrested for following illegal orders.

And on your other comment, yes, by the letter of the law that was illegal, although it was a slightly more complicated situation because as the article states:

Eisenhower and Faubus agreed that the Arkansas National Guard would remain at the school to maintain order, so the black students could attend.

... then Faubus reneged on the agreement.

Whatever. Right now, in the time that we are currently living through, during which an unhinged aspiring dictator is deploying military forces on US soil for immoral reasons, is not the time to equivocate about legality.
