Why would anyone want to be a moderator?

I'm a glass-half-empty person. My views of a situation tend toward the negative so to me, the desire to be a mod stems from the enjoyment of saying "That's not allowed!"

I know there are those who want to keep a community safe and assure the policies are enforced but if it means they get to swat someone's nose and say "No, bad member", all the better.

How dangerous is it really?

First, take a class on riding. The Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) and many Harley dealers offer them. An advantage is that passing the class will give you the endorsement on your DL, which you need to legally ride.

Next, start small. Getting used to a smaller bike will help you get a feel for how to deal with the nuances of controlling a bike and how to deal with traffic. As others have said, get the right gear and use it. Even if your state doesn't have a helmet law, wear one.

When you're ready to move up, you can easily sell the smaller bike and get the one you want.

And when you're out on the road, assume nobody can see you. Be vigilant and always look for a way out of a situation.

The Opus is ok. I was really excited for it to come out since I wanted a grinder that could do pour over and espresso. I like the anti-static tech but the all-plastic build is a bit of a let down. It works well, is easy to dial in but I think my next grinder will be more metal.

The Decent is fantastic! True the settings seem overwhelming but it comes with a ton of presets that all you need to do is load the portafilter, pick a preset and hit a button. I was making great shots on day 1 without a lot of fiddling around. Once you get the hang of the settings, it's fun to experiment with other presets or even make your own.

Can't decide on a grinder

Go with the Ode V2. They’re much quieter and with the anti-static feature, much cleaner. I had a V1 with SSP burrs and thought it was great for everything except espresso.

I replaced it with an Opus after I got an espresso machine.
