How did Lemmy.world become more popular than Lemmy.ml?
For me honestly mostly the name. World. Seems like a default instance to me. What does ml even mean?
Comment on
We've grown an absolute shit ton of people the past day, insanely nuts to see how active World is.

I know Lemmy is about to take off because the porn is quickly moving from drawn henti and furry images to gonewild onlyfan contributors. I call it the QOTP Index (Quality Of The Porn). Reddit is done.

More like, tiktok is our specific version
Douyin is what China has. That came first, then the parent company developed tiktok for release outside of china.
Then they bought Musical.ly, merged it with tiktok, and that became the modern version of the app

I mean, what? Fake?
What does "fake" even mean any more... Yeah it was made intentionally ironic/funny, that doesn't make it "fake"

Google execs admit users are ‘not quite happy’ with search experience after Reddit blackouts
Reply in thread
Not sure i like metered searches... and $25/month seems steep for unlimited.
But i will try this out, i would gladly pay for actually good search. Maybe keep google for simple web navigation then the $5 tier kagi for more nuanced search, should keep under the 300 search limit with that approach

I mean it's a shitpost, there's no deeper humor here. Just 'wouldn't it be funny if family-friendly Disney-owned Pixar made a comedy movie about something so edgy as real people being crushed to death"

Boost for Lemmy just released, works great so far!
Perhaps biased because I'm so used to Boost for Reddit

Lemmy resembles the old reddit experience so well that they even emulate the old reddit server performance

Elon Musk: "zuck is a cuck"
Reply in thread
Yes, in that she did tweet that she didn't want Elon fighting. But no in that it actually had any effect on the status of the fight
As far as anyone is aware the fight is still ""on"", but i don't think it was ever truly "on" to begin with
