Anyone else think the steam deck could have used just a single extra USB-C port?
Reply in thread
thevictor390: Just... pick two things.... literally any two USB things (A to C adapter is easy). Or pick one thing, and the other one can be charging. Would be nice to do that without dangling some kind of port replicator somewhere.
EDIT: my personal real world examples. Gaming headset. Flash drive. Nreal Air glasses.

I can't get out of silver any tips
Asleep_Dust_8210: So they are called supports, so I think that’s one big reason you might be stuck in low ELO. A support is supposed to support the team. Healing is cool and all, but damage is way more valuable. Keeping everyone at full health at all times usually screws you more than it helps.
Especially for a hero like Zen, you have to be focusing on getting important picks and discording targets that are being focused. Your whole value mainly comes from damage, and I think your issue may be that you’re not doing enough. Zen is the furthest thing from a “healer” this game has to offer, and if you’re playing zen like a healer you are gonna lose a majority of your games.
Same with Mercy. Mercy is really bad right now, so there isn’t a lot I can say here. Just focus on damage boosting more often than not. A tip I used (along with previous FPS experience) got me to diamond within my first 3 seasons of overwatch. The tip is to use damage boost as your default. You are a blue beam mercy, not a heal mercy. If someone is critical or you know they’re about to take a lot of damage, switch to heals. Once they are a safe amount of health (say 60-70%+ of their max health), switch right back to blue beam. Blue beam should be your default.
Lastly, like I said, support. Do more than just heal, and use a supports kit to do it all. Spam orbs towards their dps to pressure them out of position, blue beam vital DPS and Tank plays. Soldier Visor? Run over and blue beam asap. I would give tips for using resurrect, but it requires a lot of game sense that I think you’d be better putting off until you get better at the game. Good luck, and you’re free to reply to ask for further tips!

how i sleep having never modded or even opened my steam deck
InterestingPotato640: I sleep like this too. If I eventually feel the need for more storage I'll just buy a new SD card and stick it on the proper hole. No need no mod the deck for me.

Time to slash some indie backlog!
SK_Gael4: Deckyloader for some customization and QoL, it can give more but most plugins not needed for average user or to complex and need to understand hardware like power tools to mess with deck's apu or fantastic to make custom fan curves, if you didn't like default.
Like howlongtobeat on game pages, or shortcuts to protondb to check if you need some tweaks to game proper working or to be sure it actually works without installing it first, if steam says unsupported.
So I suggest using something like protondb badges, howlongtobeat and css loader if you want to customize or get rid of not needed parts of deck's UI.

Anyone else think the steam deck could have used just a single extra USB-C port?
UnWiseDefenses: Yeah, it's a bit cumbersome having to use the Dock---and find a power outlet for the Dock---in order to plug peripherals into the Deck. It's great having Bluetooth, but sometimes I'm in Desktop Mode and need to use my various external storage devices.
I do have a C to USB A convertor on hand, but that's still only one port.

TheTybera: Not really.
I think the single port with wide support is better than having another one. There isn't much that another USB-C port can do that can't be done by a single port. As soon as you're using a port for a dock, we're done, the dock or hub can have pass-through power.
There are very few peripherals currently that support direct USB-C. I would be curious to know what your use case is here.

MR apps need to give the Quest 2 some love! Just released a PILLOW update that replaces the B&W passthrough with colored environments and it looks SO much better.
LucasRizzotto: Hey all, PILLOW dev here! The thing about this feature that really gets me is that it didn't even take that much work to implement!
There are +20M Quest 2 headsets out there, but for some reason the whole industry treats Quest 2 owners like second class citizens with black & white passthrough that makes it feel like you are playing a prototype.
This doesn't take much work and really changes the experience for Quest 2 users, so I hope other developers do this too!

Surely this is fixable and I should buy this, right?

Meta Quest 3 - Unusable for many people after recent update. 6 weeks and 700 comments with still no resolution
---fatal---: So the fucking latest update causing this. Fantastic.
I wondered what the fuck is going on. Debris couldn't get into my USB port as a power bank is constantly connected.

GTA IV is still amazing after 15 years
slowpokefarm: I totally love the fact that this game actually runs 200% better under proton than windows because of how messed up the dx9 implementation was compared to vulkan translation.
Finished it not so long ago on SD exclusively, it’s marvelous.

GTA IV is still amazing after 15 years
tennisboy213: There’s 2 words that make this the best Grand Theft Auto.
Euphoria. Engine.
The physics in this game are impeccable. Driving is an absolute blast and requires a sense of patience and caution to navigate the city quickly. The cars have this balanced yet weighty feeling, with discernible distinctions between each class, that makes dodging traffic and maintaining speed infinitely more engaging than GTAV or games prior. The damage model is also very unforgiving so if you play the ‘mini game’ of sorts like I do, where you try to not get a single scratch on your vehicle, it forces you to practice restraint.
The gunfights also feel like real gunfights! (Or at least how I imagine they’d play out, since I’ve never been in one.) They encourage being deliberate when positioning yourself by brutally punishing you for any careless exposure. Enemies typically stay concealed while blind firing which makes firepower useless when sitting in one spot, but landing a single headshot with a pistol extremely rewarding and satisfying.
Don’t get me wrong, I looove RDR2. But while the guns in that game feel better and the actual act of aiming and shooting is way more refined, for me, the level design and enemies doesn’t elicit any distress by making me feel “trapped”, struggling to figure out the how and where of moving from my current position to a more advantageous one, while still being mindful of approaching enemies closing their gap. In GTA IV it doesn’t matter how big your guns are, how many you have, or how much ammo you have- a well placed shot wins every time and carelessness leads to death.
I’ve put 100+ hours into the game but never beaten it due to lost progress on Steam over the years. Hope to finally finish it up on my OLED deck soon.
