MyTakeHomePayIsZero: Jake and Daxter trilogy

Sly cooper trilogy

Ratchet and clank series.

‘Nuff said.

2

SpeculativeEinstein: My god you’re a person of culture!! I could not have said it better myself

1

Makegooduseof: Ace Combat 4 and 5. I’m waiting for my newly purchased Deck to arrive just so I can play those in bed.

2

Hotmouth23: Got a few favorites! Here’s a little list:

Shadow of colossus, red ninja: end of honor, jak 3, ghost in the shell: SAC, Sly cooper, star ocean tteot, monster rancher, Hit and Run, ATHF ZNPA (doesn’t work great on deck), DMC 3, Crash tag team racing, LOTR ROTK, Viewtiful joe, Kingdom hearts

1

paladin181: God of War

God of War II

Dragon Quest VIII

Final Fantasy X

Silent Hill 2

The Suffering

1

Dc_Pratt: Simpsons Road Rage

Simpsons Hit and Run

Evil Dead Fistful of Boomstick

LOTR: The Two Towers

LOTR: Return of the King

God Of War 1 & 2

1

YourcommentisVstupid: The X-men legends games. They were ahead of their time and a butt load of fun. It was my entry point into the X-men world.

1

yukeake: Super Robot Wars Alpha 3

Most of my other favorites have alreay been mentioned, so I figured I'd go for one of my more obscure favorites. Unfortunately you'll either need to be able to read Japanese, or use a guide, since there's no translation patch. If you're familiar with the SRW games in general, and the storylines of the various mecha shows involved, you can easily muddle your way through, but some of the stage objectives can be obtuse. (You'll also miss out on some of the best inter-series interactions - like Noriko fangirling over the Getter, or the classic Super Robot pilots taking Shinji under their wings to give him better role models)

1

flower4000: King Kong (this game is way ahead of its time, like ps3 immersion)

Shadow of the Colossus (nothing like it yet tons of games who wish they were it)

Dark cloud 1-2

Tony hawk american wasteland (best map fight me)

Kingdom hearts 1(the rest of the series is fun but the first one is a different game, the puzzles and secrets are just better)

Sly series

Ratchet 1-3 + deadlock

Jak 1-3

Simpson hit and run

Gauntlet dark legacy

Psychonaughts

Rayman 2

Vexx (weird generic ps2 story, but the combat and mobility moves are fun as hell)

1

viscrivodallufficio: First thing I did with my deck was emulate Ratchet Gladiator (Deadlocked for the NTSC friends).

Someday I will play the trilogy back to back, R&C3 (Up your arsenal?) is my favourite.

1

JYPXunderground: Re4, mgs3, legaia 2, shadow hearts 2, wwe hctp, svr 06 and 10, fight night 3, nba 2k6 up to 8, hitman blood money, max payne 2, freedom fighters, mk shaolin monks and others I have forgotten

1

Aggravating_Ring_714: Kingdom hearts 1 + 2, gow 1+2, dragon quest vii, gta vice city stories, mark of kri, rogue galaxy, champions of norrath, fallout brotherhood of steel

1

sometipsygnostalgic: Budokai tenkaichi 3 is great!

Devil may cry 3 is the best one ive played, but you should probably play the switch version of that game if you can.

1

eggbunni: * Parasite Eve

  • Legend of Dragoon
  • FF VII, VIII, IX, X
  • Radiata Stories

Really wish I could think of others right now.

1

Dull-Industry-5873: Not a deck owner yet but I lurk a lot on here in preparation...

My fav games are Black and God Hand, how do they play on the deck?

1

MrAwesome: Zone of the Enders. Nice short Kojima game with pretty visuals and tight controls

1

Yonrak: Unfortunately has a lot of visual bugs (related to some special effects) and poor performance when there are a lot of enemies on PCSX2. Ironically the PS3 HD edition runs a lot better via RPCS3 and also draws less power in my experience.

finlopes1997: It's borderline criminal that no one has mentioned Dark Chronicle (Dark Cloud 2 in the US) yet. Classic dungeon crawler RPG with a charming story and neat inventing and town building aspects. Should work great on the Deck, perfect pick up and play RPG.

the GOAT of PS2 RPGs is Dragon Quest VIII though, but that's already been mentioned. It's one of the best in the series, and is a tonne of fun.

Me, personally, I'm a survival horror freak. It's not everyone's cup of tea but here's some essentials if you're into the genre in no particular order (leaving out some of the obvious ones like Silent Hill 2 which has already been mentioned here):

  • The Suffering
  • Rule of Rose
  • Haunting Ground
  • Fatal Frame / Project Zero series
  • Kuon
  • Clock Tower 3
  • Forbidden Siren (or Siren in NTSC regions)
  • Forbidden Siren 2
  • Silent Hill 3
  • Resident Evil: Dead Aim (this game sucks btw but it's cheesy as Hell and worth experiencing once)
1

finlopes1997: I liked Dark Cloud but prefer the more streamlined gameplay of the second game, and also prefer the characters and story. The story in both games is pretty generic but I found the delivery more charming in the second one..

finlopes1997: I can wholeheartedly recommend Silent Hill 3, Forbidden Siren 2 and Clock Tower 3 as well. They're probably my favourites of the bunch.

1

foxxx509: One of the first things I did with my deck when I got it, is set up PCSX2. I have the Jak & Daxter series, TimeSplitters series, Medal of Honor Frontline, Maximo Ghosts to Glory on it as those were my favorites when I was younger.

1

Taido_Inukai: RPG: .hack GU (three games, Google it)

Fighter: Soul Calibur 3

Platform: Jak 1,2, and 3

Skate: Tony Hawk Underground

Mech: Armored Core 4

Star Wars: SW Battlefront 1 and 2. DO NOT BUY THE RECENTLY RELEASED REMAKE.

neddoge: Not really great on emu because of the lack of pressure sensitive face buttons.

Seibitsu: How does DW 3 stand up in today's standards? I started my journey back then with 4 but played 3 and was fun. Might end up playing it on the deck.

1

astrotunt: It is definitely dated, but I have so many fond memories of switching off with my brother when we were kids that I don't mind. That kind of hack and slash is also just timelessly satisfying.

1

tellitothemoon: I’ve been playing a lot of Wipeout Fusion (looks amazing in hd widescreen) and Culdcept.

1

KnackeredParrot: I think God of War 2 is the pinnacle but Shadow of the Colossus probably my top spot

1

Time_Hater: San Andreas was the game I grew up with but I played Max Payne 2 on the deck recently and it's definitely my favorite PS2 game now.
