unprovoked violent threat; victim so calloused to violence they still communicate simply and honestly; assailant sparing the innocent and guiding them to a safer area

Is this an american day to day occurance?

It's pretty much every encounter I've ever had with a gang member.

How can I repair these dents my Ikea couch has been making in my hardwood floor?

There's the "right" way and then there's what's practical. Here's the "right" way:

Rough sand the entire floor to wood. Fill the voids with Starbond CA glue of the appropriate color, low viscosity for leveling. Fine sand the entire floor. Refinish with oil-based polyurathane.

If you know what you're doing then this will take three days, most of it dry time. If you don't know what you're doing then one way or another you'll destroy the floor during rough sanding.

Radicalize the kids over holiday dinner!

I enjoy children because adults lie. I also enjoy setting an expectation of similar nuance of technical understanding as I would for an adult and then being surprised at how many rise to the occasion.

The other day I was talking to a ten year old about the French Revolution and American independence. She didn't have the words to express that she already understood. Instead, she held on hand in the air as if grasping something and the other near her chest as if sorta cradling something. I immediately recognized it as the Status of Liberty. I explained simply that it was their gift to us. She replied, "So we'd remember?"

I don't know how to end this post. Do what the OP says.

Elon Musk kicked from Path of Exile 2 for 'cheating' weeks after becoming Diablo 4's top player

Reply in thread

I've had his role a couple times on a smaller scale. My job was to make one or two decisions per day, communicate the ideology of why to subordinates, and hold them accountable. I spent tens of hours reasoning why and how, then ten minutes doing the work.

Elon skips the reasoning part. He just spends a few minutes per day communicating nonsense. My favorite line so far is, "We coup who we want."

Mobile drive-in cinema

That's a sleeper cab. The driver knows all about electronics: navigation, communication, entertainment. It's not surprising that any one of them would have this idea. Most gigs don't consistently route through parking with this much space.

do you think we are going into ww3?

No, we are not headed for WW3.

The military-industrial complex must be fed, our weapons sold or used. But, a large magnitude hot war has far more social and economic risk and not enough return on investment relative the alternative of multiple proxy wars. We've currently proxy wars in Israel and Ukraine. Economic growth is optimized by beginning a proxy war with China.

If Trump was smart then he might internally convince others in his administration to diplomatically and operationally over-commit. Then we could have WW3. But, he's a puppet ruling by fear. We've been fighting our proxy wars since Reagan. Trump isn't capable of overcoming capitalism's mandate for optimized growth.

Scores feared dead in Washington after jet collides with helicopter, crashes into river

Ex-VFR pilot here. I know enough to sit in judgement over this situation because it's crystal clear.

As is standard practice in this very congested airspace, the helicopter pilot asked for clearance to cross the regional jet's approach for landing using visual seperation. The ATC controller confirmed that the helicopter pilot had visual contact with the regional jet, then granted clearance.

The regional jet cannot maneuver for visual seperation while on approach for landing. It was entirely the helicopter pilot's responsibility to maintain seperation with the regional jet. The collision is entirely the helicopter pilot's fault.

Basically, the military just killed a bunch of civilians because they failed to do something that any pilot with an IFR license is regularly expected to do.

I don't actually hate it. I love it because it's difficult thing to make, you had the courage to share it, and you asked me why.

I don't like how the accents have little contrast. And, the waves are irregular but don't seem to follow a natural edge. It doesn't "speak" to me in a way I can easily understand.

How are network carriers still so critical when choosing a phone in the USA? Seems to be a unique situation compared to other markets

  1. Due to competing technical standards, a phone's hardware either works with Verizon and other carriers or it just works for other carriers.

  2. If a phone is bought from a carrier then, because they're fucking pricks, they'll put that phone on a list such that no other carrier will accept it: carrier locked. If a phone is bought from the manufacturer then it'll be carrier unlocked and more expensive.

My wife and I can take our hardware to any carrier that suits us because we've the time to understand the scam and enough money to facilitate the wiser set of choices. The majority of Americans don't have the time or the money.

How come that nothing has ever been made to improve that situation?

The banks own the stock in the corporations that, through intermediate entities, fund our elections and write our legislation. Nothing is being done because our trade unions are weak and neoliberals don't understand why violence is now necessary.

emergency services use the same roads and your protest will kill someone

As soon as law enforcement stops killing us for funsies I'll start caring about the vague hypothetical that a neoliberal gets hurt by accident.

That doesn't make any sense. It's simple:

We couldn't get Pheebo anywhere but on Poob. But, Grumpy lost the rights. He kept Pheebo on Poob until the executives got arrested. Now we can't get Pheebo.

What’s Going On With 196, Or, Why We Did What We Did

The leadership team didn't understand why we left Reddit or the distributed and duplicative grassroots solution of lemmy. It's demonstrated in their authoritative attempt to move the community and choice of .world.

They still don't understand as demonstrated in the shallow excuses above. They've learned nothing. They're not fit to lead.
