Standing my ground on going back to the office
Reply in thread
That was a figure of speech haha.
I am old and experienced enough to work exactly the hours I am paid. I give my 100% on those hours, I am all in, and I always push back when they try to sneak a meet after my EOD, try to get some extra hours from me and so on.

What Are Your Favorite Hidden Gem Android Apps?
NeverTooManyBooks.
I have several books cases and shelves where I store books, this has helped me a lot to have a catalogue of them.
I just scan the book code, the app gets book info, and I assign it to a place where it is physically stored, like, bookcase 1 in office room, shelf 3 on main room, etc.
I have it installed from Droid-ify which is like an app to have more sources for f-Droid.

Well, time to radically change who I am!
Lol if I have learned on my years on this planet is to not care what other people think about me.

What are Lemmy's unwritten rules?
I have been curating my experience on lemmy by muting communities I don't care for like politics, sports, some Linux communities, and also I always filter NSFW.
I have never been happier because I don't see what I don't care for.

Return to Office Is Bullshit And Everyone Knows It - Dhole Moments
Others are preparing to refuse to comply with either demand, countering the companies’ ultimatums with one of their own: Shut up or fire me.
This is me. I let them know I will not comply with the expectation of going back to office, not even once a week.
Couple months have passed and nothing else has happened, or was not fired, but I am preparing new gigs.
Also I have been in the company for 15+ years.

What's the best question to ask someone who you don't know very well?
I am a team manager, on status meetings on fridays I always ask if someone has good plans for the weekend, and on monday I ask how was your weekend.
I get a lot of silence, and most of the time I tell some bits of what I did, but from time to time someone tells something about what they did.
I think that is good for the team, since we are all remote, it's a little bit of socializing and have something to talk about other than work.

Yeah I thought about this, we (or I) never considered all the time wasted in commute.
In that case I should leave at 9 am, and return around 4:20 since I make 40 mins commute.
Either that or get paid the extra time, which honestly I don't think it's going to happen.

Yes, I am old enough to know that you are selling your expertise and time.
The company obviously profits a lot more that what you receive.
Also I always cringe with this "family" stuff on any company, that is just a way to manipulate the employees into creating a relationship with the company.

What game do you play to just chill?
Roguelikes.
I played Rogue Legacy 1 and 2 for the longest time. Some dead cells. Enter the gungeon, and currently testing the humble roguelikes bundle, really digging Wall World.

Officially blocked my toxic friend group!!
I have learned to just leave places, groups, relationships or acquaintances that are negative to me. There is not shame on that.
I left one group because I always asked when we were playing online, no one answered, but then I found them playing online, without me. I left the group, and kept a couple friends from there, and we still talk.
I was in this big community related to books, but it got bad, it got noisy, trolls and such, so I just left. I opened a new group with the people I did like from that group, and we are getting together this friday for some beers :D
Your time is precious, never waste your time on people that don't deserve it.

Moving equipment is one of my main issues, only second to commuting.
We don't have fixed desks, we have to sign up in an app and choose an available space.
So I can't have my desk the way I want, which is very specific as I have my keyboard, mouse, second keyboard, and also 2 external monitors, in the office there is only 1.
And yeah, if I have to, I would accept like going once every 2 weeks, on a friday, with the assumption that it is going to be a slow day for me and my client should be notified of this.

You've been instantly teleported two feet to the left. How does this affect you?
Pissing standing all over the floor.
Now if it were to the right, at least I would be pissing on the shower.

Finally got around to trying a .6 nozzle.
I've been using 0.6 for some time, I normally do functional prints. It is a good compromise between speed and quality.

[Daily thread] How are you doing today? 28-11-2023
Insomnia, but in a positive way.
I lose my phone inside my house all the time, so I created a working prototype of a button connected to the wifi, and upon pressing it, my phone will ring for me to find it.
Woke up thinking how to design a 3d printed case for it so I can use a regular mechanical keyboard switch, and now I am too revved up to sleep. And I can't work on it on the pc, don't want to wake up everyone as it is 4 am here.
My cats are keeping me company :D

That is what I'm hoping, that they would be flexible enough, I can still be here amicably some time, but I will start doing more certifications and basically prepare to jump ship later.
Obviously the company will be expecting that I will be doing this, so the relationship at this point is broken, just a matter of time.

Reminds me when I did not fastened my glass bed, it crashed down from like a meter and a half. Good thing it only chipped a corner.

This morning I've finally accepted that I am getting old
Not UK, but tomorrow I will be going to a costume contest as reverse flash, I am so excited because I ordered this costume tailor made 2 months ago for the Halloween.
Oh and I am on my 40s, I plan on not feeling old for another 15 or 20 years.
