The Phoronix forms, where AMD and NVIDIA engineers can effectively communicate
NVIDIA rep created an account to make this post
AMD rep was already an active member of the community
Unsurprising, yet it still speaks volumes.

Is Linux (dumb)user friendly yet?
It could not be simpler.
My grandfather in law kept getting scammed and installing viruses while on Windows. I installed Linux Mint on his desktop last year, setup automatic updates, created a non admin account for him, changed a few easy configurations to hide the technical stuff that appears when you turn the computer on, and he fucking loves it.
Keep in mind getting this man to login to Netflix on his TV is a minimum 30 minute long phone call. One time, we had to send people to check on him because his phone was off for 3 days straight; he put it on airplane mode and couldn’t figure out how to turn it off.
He has had 0, yes, exactly 0, problems with his computer since I installed Linux Mint. It’s faster, to point where he noticed and commented on it, and he finds it easier to use than Windows, which has been on every computer he has ever owned.
He brags to anyone who will give him the time of day how much he loves it.
I promise you, it’s really that easy.

Republicans dismayed by Trump’s ‘bad’ and ‘unprepared’ debate performance
You know this is elder abuse, it’s sad to see.
He’s clearly going through some form of age related mental decline. He should really drop out, for the good of the country, just like Biden did when the republicans were so sincerely worried about his mental decline and called for him to drop out.

Capcom President Thinks Game Prices Are 'Too Low' - IGN

Pence Says Trump Shouldn’t Be Disqualified Even If CONVICTED — Says ‘That Needs To Be Left To The American People’
It’s not that he actually believes this, it’s that the party’s base has determined that you can’t oppose Trump, so they need to find a reason why people should vote for them instead of Trump while not taking the position that Trump should be in jail.
It’s the usual mental gymnastics. Desantis is doing the exact same thing.

what's something your company did that totally killed morale?
Promoted several top performers. To fill the vacancy left from this, they then hired several incompetent, inexperienced people to fill the leftover roles, who unsurprisingly underperformed.
Well then wouldn’t you know it, our profitability went down.
So then they start several rounds of layoffs where they fired all of the top performers who had been promoted accusing them of, ironically enough, poor performance for the first time in their entire career at the company.
Throughout the entire process the same people who were eventually fired were reassured they were safe.
The underperforming idiots still work here, they just shifted some of their responsibilities on to other people like me in other departments so they have less room to fuck up.
The cherry on top of that which most of the company doesn’t know is that they considered firing the under-performers and demoting the people who were promoted instead of firing them, but they thought it would make us look poorly run in front of our clients.
Oh and they froze our yearly raises and bonuses, meanwhile our CEO got a raise even while making more than double the average for a CEO of a company our size (8 figures).

Happened to me because I had an account on a crypto exchange. The attacker went in to my phone carrier’s store, likely with a fake ID, convinced the store they were me, then got a new SIM card and reset my password on everything they could with it. They logged in to my crypto exchange mere minutes after they got the SIM, saw the $0.03 in my account, and logged out.

No love lost: AppLovin helpfully releases tool to switch from Unity to Godot or Unreal

You are professional Unity engineer who is migrating a large project from Unity platform to Unreal Engine 4. Migrate code to C++, which you are an expert in. Follow the following rules: 1. Always output exactly two code blocks: one with headers and other with implementations. 2. Do not skip any logic. 3. Preserve all comments without changing. 4. If migration is impossible leave "TODO [Migrate]" comment. 5. Use Unreal Engine C++ best practices.

Japanese researchers say they used AI to try and translate the noises of clucking chickens and learn whether they're excited, hungry, or scared
Reply in thread
They’re violating the chickens intellectual property by training the model on the chickens sounds without legally binding consent from the chickens to train on their data.
Wouldn’t be surprised if the chickens banded together and sued for copyright infringement.
