Reddit CEO Defends His Absurdly High Pay While Not Paying Mods

The best thing about his deeply fuckheaded comments is that it's a perfect example of the sick way the ultra wealthy operate, presented in a way reddit users can absolutely understand.

The act of building early reddit was a group effort. I have no idea how much Spez contributed to the concept, but he did code it -- a task that realistically millions of people also would have been able to do.

But a platform without users is nothing. It was the users creating content that truly built reddit and the unpaid moderators who stopped it collapsing under the weight of spam and extremism.

While that was happening, spez shit the bed over and over again. He sold out too early. He openly advocated platforming extremists. He got called out for the bigotry he tolerated in his company. He alienated his most important users so he could sell their content to AI companies.

And now here we are. He makes an absurd amount of money, despite being shit at his job, despite being a clearly bad person and despite his accomplishments being ordinary. Meanwhile, the people he needs, who are critical to his business, are paid nothing.

This is the same setup as Amazon, Walmart, Uber and a million other businesses, distilled down to its very essence.

They could deport them to Rwanda. That might work

They're not bad at economics, they're simply lying about what their goal was. That $150mil didn't just blip out of existence like in a video game, it ended up in people's pockets.

I would bet good money that many of those pockets belonged to friends and family members. Neoliberals have been using this tactic for decades as a way to turn public funds into private profits.

Sounds more like you just don't know anything about the gambling industry. They run rigged games in predatory ways. They happily let organised crime launder money for a cut. They fight regulations designed to reduce problem gambling.

Nevertheless, nobody here is "forcing their way of life on others and taking away their agency over their own lives". They're just acknowledging that casinos have a long history of being absolute cunts.

Anon revisits early youtube

It's a cycle we all go through. My "when the internet was good" was when long-form text content ruled, before memes and videos took over. The kids of today will fondly remember the deep fried memes and TikToks from before the human race became functionally extinct.

It should be noted that for-profit media companies will play dumb on any protest critical of the types of people that own and run for-profit media companies.

During the "occupy" protests, it was common to see reporters staring into the camera and asking "but what are these protests about?" in front signs stating exactly what the protests were about. They knew if they fairly reported on the movement, their audience might start agreeing with the protesters. So both "left wing" and "right wing" media companies held hands and united to undermine it.

But without that reporting, fuck knows. If he's posting on reddit conspiracy subs, they've become a place for extremists to recruit the stupid and the clinically paranoid.

"That's not gay, it's patriotic. Our commander-in-chief is tirelessly fighting the LGBT woke groomer leftist virus and if he needs a warm mouth to help him focus, it's the duty of red blooded Americans to provide one"

You can squirm out of anything when you're not worried about being honest.

California Cop Who Shot 18-Year-Old Had His Bodycam Off, But Surveillance Footage Captured Him Shooting Suspect in the Back as He Fled

How come all the pro-gun fuckstains that claim "guns keep police honest" are never in these threads saying "the kid should have opened fire on the cop" or "people in nearby houses should have threatened the cop with a gun"?

But nope, they just stick to threads about gun control and peddle the same rhetoric that crystal gripping hippies have used for decades. "My cancer-preventing crystals didn't prevent your cancer? Damn, imagine how much cancer you would have had without the crystals. You basically owe me your life. You better buy more."

The meaning of a word doesn't matter to them. They're told it's a bad thing and that they're to oppose it, like the attack command for a dog that's been trained to be racist.

It's why everytime they have a new trigger word like "woke" or "CRT", there is always a stream of clips of supporters and pundits who can't articulate what the word means but are staunchly opposed to it anyway.

Within that, there's probably people who do know what it means, they just can't say things like "I oppose anyone being empathetic or fair to minorities" out loud, even though that's exactly their view.

Masculinity in Crisis

What is demanded of us is same or more than in non-feminist countries

Why are you being coy about which "demands" you object to? Unless you tell us what they are, they could easily mean things like "having to contribute to cooking, cleaning and child rearing" or "needing consent to help yourself to a woman's body".

I'm not sure if you've peered outside your little bubble lately, but more is demanded of women too. They're expected not only to hold down a full time job but an entire career too. And oh look, they're passed over for jobs, offered less money and forced to work twice as hard for recognition, all because of their gender.

So if you're going to use the rhetoric of a bitter man-child who is upset their grandfathers "I work full time" excuse doesn't work on people who are also working full time, you can at least pretend you're pulling your weight first.

Because your comment isn't just melodramatic, it's outright bullshit.
