Spoofed Serial Number Unlocks Cricut Machine

TLDR:

Thus, attention turned to intercepting communications between the machine and the host PC over USB. This revealed the machine sending its serial number to the Cricut PC software in plain text with no checksums or encryption at all. Unlocking the machine was as easy as installing an RP2040 in between the Cricut Maker and the host PC. It was programmed to relay packets between the two and spoof the serial number in the process.

Pretty short article. I'm not sure why OP's text is so short and cut off mid sentence. (Looks like their account is listed as a bot, so just auto-posting scraped content).

to kirk, kork, korken

I would assume that using kirk as a slang verb would mean to "send someone to church" which is where they would have their funeral.

In the additional image in OP, it's used in reference to the assassination where he got shot, and the kid is using it to mean someone got sniped in the video game.

This Scammer Used an AI-Generated MAGA Girl to Grift ‘Super Dumb’ Men

The same logic, however, apparently does not apply to left-wing influencer accounts, as Sam learned when he created a short-lived liberal counterpart for Emily on Instagram: “Democrats know that it’s AI slop, so they don’t engage as much.” (Sam’s explanation for why MAGA influencer accounts work is blunt: “The MAGA crowd is made up of dumb people—like, super dumb people. And they fall for it.”)

Pretty much sums up the whole political timeline we live in.

What's a life lesson you learned the hard way that you'd want to share with others to help them avoid the same mistake?

Put your money where you spend your time. Don't spend money on something if you won't be using it.

You spend a lot of time sleeping, so get a nice, comfortable mattress. Spend a lot of time on your feet at work? Get durable, comfortable shoes/boots, and maybe some nice insoles so you don't limp back to your car from pain. Spend a lot of time playing a F2P video game? Go ahead and buy that DLC or cosmetic item to make it more fun, and support the devs to keep the game going.

The list can go on, but before any non-trivial purchase, I ask myself how much time I will spend using it.
