a tragic comedy

Reply in thread

No, there was a lot more that came of this (unless you're specifically referencing the snitching part).

  • It's made business execs afraid.
  • It's shown the working class how to have solidarity.
  • It's been a rallying cry for how much the people hare the current system.
  • It's given us a martyr.
  • It’s taught the would be school shooters that they’ll get lots of positive attention for redirecting their targets towards those deserving. They’ll get labeled a folk hero, they’ll have people trying to send them money for their legal defense fund, they’ll get their name in the history books. They’ll get everything they ever wanted out of their act of violence.

And I'm sure there's more.

Why is the right at war with cyclists? We’re not ‘wokerati’ – we’re just trying to get around | Zoe Williams

I feel like this article is really missing out the part where oil interests are intentionally funding hatred of other modes of transportation. The PragerU video on "The War on Cars" is a good example. They are funded by oil companies, and this is public information that is easy to find. And they use that platform to prevent other modes of transportation from being safe or viable.

"Old and quite weird": Democrats finally discover new effective attack — and Republicans hate it

Reply in thread

I think the "weird" attribution has a way of infecting his supporters as well.

If you support a criminal, that doesn't necessarily make you a criminal. If you support a corrupt politician, that doesn't make you a corrupt politician.

But if you support somebody weird? Well that makes you weird. Trump's weirdness infects you. It's the cheese touch of politics.

Alleged CEO Shooter Luigi Mangione Was Radicalized by Pain

The author here knows what they're talking about, and while not explicitly saying it, they're saying there will be more Luigi's, Adjusters, whatever attention grabbing description you like.

More business execs will be recognized as the tyrants they are, and shot. Because the entire world just taught all the school shooter types that shooting a business exec will turn you into a folk hero. It will get you fame and admiration. It will get people trying to send you money for your legal defense. It will get you people spreading the word about jury nullification to use the system against itself.

This month taught would be school shooters to instead go for board members, ceos, and billionaires. And it's a far better lesson.

Large Majority of Americans Want to End Electoral College

I'd take RCV over nothing, but STAR and approval are significantly better like the other user said.

Some reasons for approval

  • Addition is the only math involved. So it is extremely easy to get live results during counting. It makes auditing votes extremely easy.
  • It is dead simple to understand, so the least amount of voters will be confused by it.

A longer form explanation of some of the other stuff:
