Moving away from RHEL based distros, whats good ?
Reply in thread
Realistically, it doesn't make sense for folks to be using bleeding edge distros like Arch for a server anyway. LTS of Debian or even Ubuntu are definitely the right answer

Having worked in customer service, that's what I'd expected, but this lady clearly had some thoughts and she made it visible, and really, that's what made it the most awkward

lemmy.ml is overloaded, use other instances instead

I think that's been one of the winning features of Mastodon that Lemmy could heavily benefit by implementing, this is a great callout

I mean...Reddit was taken offline by subs going private, and they had forewarning this was going to happen. Lemmy is handling a veritable monsoon of new users

Hah! That's a very fair question. We bought A LOT of bags, like I don't know if I'd use that many in my lifetime, I'd rather have my money back. It's also because we're moving out of country in the next 4 months, and that's a lot of weight to have to ship over when I can just get a refund

What’s everyone playing this weekend?
I pretty much spend all of my time on FFXIV, but lately, been going through Last of Us again with my partner on PC

What OS do you use on your pc and why?
I've been running Manjaro for 4 years now, never looked back. I know people have their thoughts on Manjaro, but I haven't had any issues and it comes with some great features out of the box that I'd rather not have to problem solve on another distro. That said, I've been having fun with Endeavor on my extra laptop, it's worked pretty well for me and can see why it has such a thriving community

Thank you! Added it 😊 https://beehaw.org/post/524147 I'm still learning Lemmy and wasn't sure how to handle crossposting and I'm sure I linked it wrong 🙃
Thanks a ton for the suggestion!

Niche FOSS Android apps that are useful
I love Loop Habit, I use it religiously <3 Out of curiosity, is there something that you'd suggest for SMS? I was using Signal, but have been on Simple SMS ever since Signal dropped SMS support. I even used Google Messaging for a while out of a desire for P2P encryption

I actually really enjoy the theme and general layout, maybe some small quality of life adjustments. My bigger concern would be things like profile import/export so people can move to different servers, fixing the ability to customize your default starting page (All / Active, Subscribed / Top for Day, etc.). We may need a good way to share a link to the post & its thread, I did share a link to someone and it provided only the post's image, it could be a misunderstanding on my part, but I was wanting the recipient to also be able to view the comments.
I love the theming and how intuitive everything is given the complex environment.

Ah, thank you so much! You're totally right, I was just seeing that it said "Local" at the top, but I'm getting posts from remote servers. Thank you so much for calling that out!
