I think this is a callback to 28. The Correct Incantation:
Edit: And, of course, it's a follow-up to last week's 74. Drawing The Line:

It's in the works!
Slowly but surely: even if the month was really busy, I could commit time to do progress on episode 40. Maybe even more than in August. I did some work on the concept art (Pepper's new outfit) and some pages went from just layout to fully penciled.
The layout of page 9 and 10 is still very only speechbubbles and doodles. I hope I'll finish the penciling and start some inking in October.

Please tell me that page is a joke. Those 4 figures are practically identical.
(Yes, I see the minute differences between them)

Funeral [SMBC]

It effectively runs:
books(); gardening(); family()
books(); gardening(); family()
books(); gardening(); family()
books(); gardening(); family()
books(); gardening(); family()
books(); gardening(); family()
...
it runs those 3 functions 88 times, there's no hint as to what they do.

I really can't figure out what Zach intended for this to mean. Year is defined but never used: you'd expect something like books(year) instead of just books(). I have absolutely no idea what the function calls are supposed to represent.

What are some idioms that no longer make sense? Can you think of a modern replacement?

According to legend, some people have what's called "deferred gratification", by which they drive pleasure out of knowing that they will get to eat the cake later.
I don't get it either. I think it's a myth.

Quit horsing around. You're really putting the cart before the horse.
Edit: sorry, gotta go. I need to see a man about a horse.

Japan has a broadcast time system. It can go from 11:00 -> 0:00 -> 13:00
0:00 PM makes a heck of a lot more sense than 12:00 PM. But there is no excuse for using it in an otherwise 24-hour system! I'm so sorry you have to tolerate such insanity.

I'll give you a hint: it was painfully hard for me to resist capitalizing the "I".
I wanted to write it in a way that actually would be misunderstood due to lack of punctuation, but it was too much of a cognitive load. In my native language it's really easy: for example, the difference between "No, I'll do it" and "I won't do it" is just a comma. But in English it's not that easy.
