Is this true?

Maybe, but it was nowhere near as popular as plain Minecraft. The sales numbers alone can attest to that, plus the fact there hasn't been a sequel should be all the proof you need to say that a linear minecraft wouldn't do too well.

Australian anti-porn group claims responsibility for Steam's new censorship rules in victory against 'porn sick brain rotted pedo gamer fetishists', and things only get weirder from there

Sure, but since orgaanised religions can't help to force others to live by their standards, they need to get out of the way. I'm fine with people needing a comfort measure, even if its in the form of an invisibile friend. Whatever helps people sleep at night. However, when they try to force their ideals down everybody elses throat thats a big no.

So, since they can't 'live and let live' they need to go the way of the dodo, fuck off, and leave the rest of society alone.

Mandatory jail term for Nazi salute under new hate crime rules in Australia

Reply in thread

Freedom of speech was created so citizens could feel safe criticising the government, not so they could spout hatred about people who were different to them. You can say whatever the fuck you want, up until it makes others unsafe, that doesn't mean oh they say bad words and im offended, or i don't like them promoting that candidate over the one i like that has christian* values. No, that means you words and actions intentionally incite hatred and violence.

All this hiding behind free speech shite thats been happening for a very long time has just given the shit cunts the courage to be shit cunts. And now because the US shat the bed and its been spreading the world, the rest of the world needs to sanitise.

Are there actually any good mobile games?

The Room by fireproof games. Probably one of the first actual proper mobile games. Its spawned clones no IAP, no crap. Just fun, hard af puzzles.

Hoplite. Fun little iso turn based roguelike. Vampire Survivors. Reverse bullet-hell roguelike. Has spawned so, so, so many clones.. GTA:Chinatown Wars Have not played this is a very very long time, but i'm sure it still holds up (if its available). Old school (2d birds eye view) gta style.

These are games that work well without a controller, The Room actually would play worse with one. If at all.

Then of course theres emulators and roms and stuff.

Elizabeth May suggests Cali, Oregon, Washington State join Canada or join British Columbia to form 'Cascadia'

But that would take a new constitution… Yeah, its a good that the thing that is only a couple centries old has been updated to match modern times and all.

Ironic when you consider that the people who would cry foul and act all offended the most if you ever were to suggest thinking about changing the entire constitution, have no issue with blatantly ignoring it entirely when it suits them.

Almost like the people who follow and believe in it the most are the only ones about to get mega dicked.

Reddit has become worse and worse in the last couple of years.

Subreddits have banned people for activities that users do in other subreddits since long before the API changes. Reddit was bad, long before the API changes. The writing was on the wall when they first changed how votes were displayed, its what started the mass trend up karma farming. There used to be a lot of novelty accounts going around, the small user base kept things grounded and on topic. Then users like gallowboob took over, flooded the site with repost after repost, farming karma, other users began doing the same and now its nothing more than karma hell.

Comment threads are rarely helpful, usually full of trolling, or pun threads, or jokes, or other useless unhelpful crap.

Once a community, any community, becames large enough, the quality of the output drops. If you have 10000 users in a sub/community, and only a couple hundred that actually like the topic, the trolls and the off topic karma whores will take over. Low effort, low skill, low floor, low ceiling. Enshitification isn't just a word, and it didn't just happen over night. It's been happening for a while. The internet will never be as good as it used to be, sure we can do more, watch more, send more, download more, play more, etc. But the smaller close-knit communities that helped cause the internet to thrive in the first place are never coming back.

Enshitification and dead internet theory have made sure of that.

The Witcher 3's expansion reveal is scheduled for next month

Reply in thread

Its not really an old game, though i guess that depends on your age, given you've had a 20 year break from gaming you likely aren't young. The game is younger than both GTA:V and skyrim though, in saying that there is nothing wrong with old games. The half-life and portal games still hold up great, Witcher 3 is no different, its a pretty decent game. If you like this sort of thing. If you like story heavy third-person open world games with a fleshed out world then yes. Also, gwent. Ignore the standalone version, but the in-game card game is extremely addictive. Multiple endings, new game +, nothing like a souls game but it isn't a cake walk either, unless you want that.

The Free Market Lie: Why Switzerland Has 25 Gbit Internet and America Doesn't

Reply in thread

Also, what do you do with > 1gbit fiber??

More than 10 years ago, Australia started rolling out it's national broadband network. The original plan was for fibre-to-the-premises for every dwelling in the country. The governing party that came up with the idea was voted out for other reasons, the conservative party(s) - a coalition of two parties - gained power and stripped it back, it would be fibre-to-the-node for the majority of the country, with some places gaining fttp. or fibre-to-the-curb. Before this it was (mostly) all copper wiring and ADSL. Speeds were supposed to be close to gbit, but the conservative party questioned that, like you have, why would we need more than 20mbit speeds. Nobody needs those speeds citing this, as well as costing issues the conservative party ended up spending more to deliver less. Years later, when future reality hit everyone in the face with how internet-centric the world was becoming there were plans to bring forward fttp to all dwellings in the country, costing more. So, instead of just sticking with what was originally planned, which would have future-proofed the network for some time, they ended up spending more, to deliver less, then ended up costing more to finish the job as was originally intended. Which still isn't finished yet.

It should also be noted, that when announcing the changes to the planned network, the conservative government chose to do so at Foxtels studios. Foxtel is Australia's largest (pretty much only) cable/satellite tv provider. Foxtel, being listed on the NYSE had disclosed to investors that one of the risks to its business at the time was the upcoming NBN, given the apparent rise of Netflix, and other online streaming entertainment. Now of course it's not fair to suggest any link between the two events, as it also isnt fair to suggest that cost blowouts wouldn't have occurred had they kept to the plan. However, the facts are, they bastardised the plan, it cost tax payers more money, it required rework less than a decade later, and it still isn't up to the level it was originally intended for.

Should be noted that the conservative party is also the party that cut ABC funding (Australian Broadcasting Corparation - the public broadcaster. least biased. Most attacked by cuntservatives). Meaning the ABC couldn't afford to produce Bluey solely on their own, meaning they had to sign deals with BBC and such, which gave the BBC full merchandising rights. So, given Bluey is an Australian created world-wide smash hit, not one cent goes back to australia (minus anything from the original creators). So again, the fiscally conservative party, screwed over the people again. Then had the audacity to attack the ABC for the bad deals created for Bluey.

Massive tangent there, I apologise. However, my main point was, the majority may need more than 1gbit, or more than a couple hundred mbit right now, but it will at least be future-proofed for a good while, saving more money in the long run.

Knowledge, especially free and easily accessible knowledge is detrimental to elites. Under educated peoples are easy to coerce, control, manipulate, scapegoat, scare, etc. So the easier it is for people to educate themselves, or just be educated the worse it is. Capitalists by default want dumb workers who don't know the meaning of value, it's part of the reason theres been a massive anti-intellectualist push this last decade or so.
