In America it used to be you could just bribe your governor and they'd deploy the national guard to kill striking worker's families like the Ludlow Massacre and the Battle of Blair mountain.

There absolutely are, never forget the first pride parade was a riot.
"When did you ever see a fag fight back? ... Now, times were a-changin'. Tuesday night was the last night for bullshit ... Predominantly, the theme [w]as, "this shit has got to stop!"
"...the crowd shouted "Pigs!" and "removed cops!" Beer cans were thrown and the police lashed out, dispersing some of the crowd who found a construction site nearby with stacks of bricks....Garbage cans, garbage, bottles, rocks, and bricks were hurled at the building, breaking the windows. Witnesses attest that "flame queens", hustlers, and gay "street kids"—the most outcast people in the gay community—were responsible for the first volley of projectiles, as well as the uprooting of a parking meter used as a battering ram"

You can drop lots of hints, a perception check to notice the flame of their torches has diminished and is threatening to be extinguished. They start making con saves every 2 minutes, if they fail they get dizzy, subsequent failed saves cause headaches, then vomiting. Give them heal or wisdom checks for a chance to determine what's happening. After 3 failed checks you use the rules for holding your breath and party members with the lowest constitution begin to lose consciousness. Seems fair

Eating Meat Is Bad for Climate Change, and Here Are All the Studies That Prove It
Reply in thread
41% of the land in the US is used for meat production, and 1/3rd globally. The Amazon rainforest is being slashed and burned for cattle farming. Animal agriculture means habitat destruction and is a large part of why 21 species were declared extinct in the US this past year. We can and must fight them both.

Not even that. He was headed to Cuba, the US government forced him to be in Russia.

Nvidia's grasp of desktop GPU market balloons to 88% — AMD has just 12%, Intel negligible, says JPR

AMD is doing really great things with APUs like the Steam Deck. I just got a travel mini PC with a Ryzen 7 7840U. It can play most games at 1080p high quality with 30fps and fits in the palm of my hand.
It might be a while before you can play VR on an APU but they're already comparable to GPUs from 5 years ago

Texas AG Paxton sues five cities, including Austin and San Marcos, over marijuana policies

Also the historically accurate answer according to the men in the room!
“You want to know what this [war on drugs] was really all about? The Nixon campaign in 1968, and the Nixon White House after that, had two enemies: the antiwar left and black people. You understand what I’m saying?
We knew we couldn’t make it illegal to be either against the war or black, but by getting the public to associate the hippies with marijuana and blacks with heroin, and then criminalizing both heavily, we could disrupt those communities. We could arrest their leaders, raid their homes, break up their meetings, and vilify them night after night on the evening news.
Did we know we were lying about the drugs? Of course we did.”

Massachusetts cop knew deputy chief was a child rapist, but didn't report it
Not surprising. This is the state where the president of the police union was a known child rapist for almost 30 years and all the governor and oversight committees covered it up.
The Irish mob known as the Boston Police Department has been covering for the Boston Catholic archdiocese for decades as well

TIL scientists stepped on 175 rattlesnakes with a fake leg to see how many would bite. The study found that only 6 bit. The rest just froze or tried to wiggle away. Snakes just want to be left alone.
Reply in thread
Snakes only produce a small amount of venom and it takes days to replenish reserves. They have fine muscle control over how much venom they release and scientists have measured them releasing amounts of venom relative to the size of their target.
Not sure how aware they are of doing it but I wouldn't be surprised with all of a viper's sensory organs that they knew venom would go to waste on a prosthetic
