Gfycat.com shuts down on September 1 and all Gifs will be taken down

Reply in thread

Everything is falling down:

  • Google is dropping Reddit and Twitter from their searches.
  • Twitter is throttling Tweets and you have to signin to view anything. Which would be crazy antivaxxer radicals, so not missing anything. No more free API use.
  • YouTube is blocking you after 3 videos if you use an adblocker.
  • Reddit has killed all 3rd party apps among API changes
  • Now Gfycat is going, man that's like most of the sites I used since a kid. Imgur seems to be around still at least.

Twitter locked behind login page.

It basically is, free API was culled destroying many apps and sites that scraped data from Twitter. So many glitches and bugs mean it's easy to get banned.

You get temporarily blocked if you follow more than a couple accounts in a short time and basically anything. So much anti-vax rubbish and crazy people forced onto my feed. Blocking too many of those gets you temp locked out.

Now this login screen and I'm struggling to see how anyone can find it useful. My work still insists though.

Goodbye RIF

App will be missed, starting to migrate to new lands. Reddit may be dead but hopefully we all find a new home. Thanks for the memories Reddit is Fun and all the support from the crew to make an awesome app.

UK: Latest Defence Intelligence update on the situation in Ukraine - 1 July 2023

It will be a gruelling fight for both sides. Small naval units have been battling each other since Kherson was captured. No successful amphibious landings at Kinburn Spit either. Best chance is that the Russians are trying to stabilise on several fronts and lack manpower.

This will be to Ukraine's advantage if they can sieze the initiative and push out of the bridgehead. Onto more stable land and use engineers to get some bridge going.
