New documentary on Austin and San Antonio becoming a mega-metro

With the relative proximity and all the small towns in between, it really does seem like we’re trending toward an eventual DFW situation. Then the question becomes whether or not we eventually see an I-10N/I-10S split like they have with I-35. We’re the largest city in the country with only one interstate, so I wouldn’t rule out the possibility if we continue to outpace national growth trends.

D4 Gameplay reviews?

Whirlwind Barb has been fun (trying to maximize spin uptime while unloading tons of damage), but optimizing it and maximizing the fun is way too dependent on a ring drop that I have yet to find (Bold Chieftan).

D4 any barb players?

I switched to spin2win after level 50 and never looked back. I know it isn’t as strong has HotA builds in the long run, but it’s just so satisfying when you get your cooldowns reduced enough to tear through packs. Currently lvl 72 and having a blast slowly working my way up the nightmare dungeon ladder (most recently ran a 30).

[D4] Hit a progress wall. Any ideas?

Whirlwind is rough without either the Bold Chieftan’s aspect or the Marshal Glyph’s secondary effect. Both is obviously preferred, but at least one is almost essential to make the build function in higher tiers. I waited to even attempt switching over to WW until I had enough paragon levels for a fully-powered Marshal Glyph, and it helped a lot.

GarberBucks. The league is more than willing to turn a blind eye to the rules when it thinks there’sa benefit to the league’s viewership and standing. Just have to hope it results in some changes for other teams as well.

Try to catch a sunset at Oasis Texas Brewing Company (not to be confused with The Oasis, which is next door and has awful overpriced food and drinks).

Will you be around on a weekend during that timeframe? Both UT Football and Austin FC games are a lot of fun, and you can usually find cheap seats if you aren’t too picky about location.

If you’re into art, The Blanton Museum of Art is always a good stop (works doubly well if you go to a Longhorns game, as it’s situated on the edge of UT’s campus).

Make sure you try some BBQ while you’re in town, as we have some of the best brisket in the country. Franklin is the headliner, but there are lots of other options in the same tier of goodness with less of a line, so feel free to reach out if you want specific recommendations there.

Former Barcelona star Jordi Alba to sign with Inter Miami, reunite with Messi, Busquets

In general, yes; however, that leg up in most of our sports leagues is through player drafts. Since most good players in soccer don’t go through US college athletics, that usual leg up doesn’t mean nearly as much.

And yeah, you’re right on the money on the teams vs leagues thing; the leagues in most US sports tend to wield quite a bit of power over franchises, and negotiate labor contracts directly with player unions. MLS is a wonky outlier in many ways (largely because America doesn’t have a near-monopoly on top talent like it does in some other sports), but the league itself is definitely seen as a priority over any one club.

GameDay MIN v ATX

Our offense has generally looked better of late (glad Finlay is finally starting over Rigoni), but lord help our CBs. Ring is good at cleaning up messes, but he’s not as good at marking and maintaining a flat line as we need. Cascante isn’t the best transition marker either, so we are going to be very vulnerable on crosses until we plug that hole. Here’s to hoping we pour in goals and put things out of reach early!
