Steve Balmer quotes

I was just thinking about why many things on Linux are better. Like the install process on Linux is years ahead of windows.

Then it occurred to me that windows only improves things that can make them money. If you need to install windows, then you can deal with the crappy installer.

Linux devs improve the parts they think need to be better. The decisions are not guided by money and can be made without bias.

Nintendo sues Switch emulator Yuzu for ‘facilitating piracy at a colossal scale’

You know why I played the games on yuzu? It’s because the joycons suck and they are expensive to replace.

I did the stick drift repair on my own, but the L and R buttons are soldiered to the main board so it can’t be repaired.

I bought a right joycon on its own and then the next week the left joycon had the same issue.

I wasn’t going to spend about $90 for an unreliable controller when an entire steamdeck costs $500.

It really paints the picture that the controllers are way over priced how can they alone be 20% the cost of the entire steamdeck.

If Nintendo made decent joycons, then I would not be using Yuzu.

Additionally, I dumped my own games and keys, so they got their money and through some effort, I got a better experience.

I’d like to add that the joycons were not heavily used either.

Apple will no longer fix the $17,000 gold Apple Watch

Reply in thread

Well, it’s not a brain dead purchase when $20k doesn’t even register for you.

Got $500,000,000 in the bank? Who cares?

You family has billions and you just have an unlimited alllowance. Who cares.

That’s who this is for.

With that being said, Apple did it for one year and I think it was just a marketing stunt. Everyone talked about it and now people know what an Apple Watch is.

The lazy, entitled millennials trope just doesn’t hold up. Whoopi in hot water again...

I’d love for someone to just once elaborate on this.

What does it mean to work harder? More hours? Work harder at my current job?

Most people would not be allowed to work at their job for more hours due to overtime limits. Some jobs won’t let people work a second job.

If I work harder at my current job, what’s going to happen? Will they be grateful and just pay me more or will they create a position to promote me?

I don’t get what that means.

Anon's Friend

I knew someone who went to jail at 18 for like 12 or 20 years or something like that.

Basically he was at college on a football scholarship. Did armed robbery. He never pulled the gun but they had them on them when they did the robbery.

Ended up being addicted to crack and died a few years ago.

He did win $300,000 on a lottery scratch off at one point. He was also addicted to those.

So, here is my response to that.

Why? Where I am from in the US, at least 2 years of language classes were required.

I took Spanish as most people did and years later I had a long term relationship with a Mexican, so over time I learned Spanish.

I’m now, not living in the US and learning a third language.

But I’m very much the exception. Most US citizen, never interact with people who don’t speak English as most Americans never leave the US.

No matter how much you study another language, you are not really going to learn it and be competent with it unless you regularly use it.

Most people in the US will not have any exposure to the language they learned or studied. So what’s the point?

It just seems like a wasted effort for most people.

Tutorials like this that are really simple might be a good way yo introduce the idea that Linux does not need to be difficult or complex.

Chrome is so common and it demonstrates that you can use something familiar on Linux.
