The source for this is Konami's instagram and twitter pages. I'd link them, but honestly, the comments on both made me kind of depressed so I'm not going to subject you all to that. Seriously what is happening to the internet?

That was definitely a big part of it. I assume all the overt racism got deleted before I got there, but lots of dog whistles and bitching about the game being "woke" remained.

But then there were also a ton of people complaining that it's not coming to xbox on launch, or whining that Konami was posting promotional materials at all because they wanted to go in blind. Twitter was actually a little better, somehow, but still had more than enough whining along the same lines, PLUS the top reply was a bluecheck account with an AI generated profile pic saying this:

Tbh SH2 is full of stuff like this, off the top of my head I can't remember any specifically, but Google "silent hill game files" and poke around a little. I think you'll enjoy the generally hopeless aesthetic anyway

I can't remember where I heard it but some podcaster or youtuber pointed out that it's never been easier to have an alpha masculine job. In the past, you might be born into a class that meant you pretty much had to farm, but now anyone can join the police or the military, and yet a lot of these guys that are super concerned about the death of masculinity are not doing that.

I see something like this and I'm like "oh are you trans?" And then I'm like "oh or a cis woman?" And then I'm like "oh or an immigrant or any shade of brown?" "Oh or a working class man?" And I just end up thinking of every identity combination because there are maybe 5 people on earth that this admin hasn't been extremely hostile to, and even for them it's only a matter of time before they start turning on each other and eating each other too
