States Claim to Invest in “Humane” New Prisons — But Prisons Were Never Humane
Reply in thread
You fell for the prison psy op and missed the point of the article. "More humane" prisons completely ignores the abysmal conditions that persist regardless of superficial headlines. Prisons remain a form of social control for the elite to profit off the result of the suffering that capitalism creates (violence and trauma). But it gets worse because most people in prison are just poor or non white (disproportionately).

Colbert doesn't care. Neither should we.
Its white supremacy - There are plenty that don't regret theur choices because they are either still unaffected because they are closer to the white supremacist ideal (affluent, non marginilized white men) or think they will soon become those men (temporarily embarrassed non marginilized white men that aren't afluent) or they think they are the exception to the rule (tokenized minorities and white women, gay white me, etc who are only tokenized as long as they are useful).
I wish we could raise white people's class consciousness and sense of solidarity with all working people

Pretty sure Democrats doing nothing to stop the genocide in gaza was a factor to their detriment in the election, bots aside

Father sues Google, claiming Gemini chatbot drove son into fatal delusion

The young man was mentally ill, a vulnerable user, probably already had a condition towards psychosis and the LLM ran wild with it. Paranoid delusions are powerful on their own already

Texas Hispanics swung hard to Trump. A new poll shows they’re furious at his deportations
All the people that can be convinced they are temporary embarrassed millionaires have been suckered by Republicans, Trump most of all. Unfortunately that includes people from all identity groups, although he really convinced poor and middle class whites the most.

New study raises concerns about AI chatbots fueling delusional thinking among vulnerable people.
Im really concerned about the little delusionals as well as the big mental breaks. I think people are echo chambering bad ideas and advice all the time (medical advice, etc).

You are paying taxes to destroy your own rights to privacy
Obviously anti palantir and anti military here but my understanding of the federal tax system and how spending works is they actually fund all this stuff before taxes come in, having a sovereign currency and central bank has vastly changed the structure of taxation on the federal level(unlike local propertytaxes for examplewhich function in the traditional way ), this is a MMT take but it makes sense to me
