How did Google discover public links of Claude chats?

This news item from a few weeks ago revealed that when users created a "public link" of their Claude chat history, that chat history ended up in Google's search queries.

Aren't these urls supposed to be more or less undiscoverable by virtue of the long string of random characters that they contain?

How did Google discover those urls?

Did these people publish the urls somewhere publically themselves?

Or did Google "fish" them out of their gmail inbox or something like that?

How is the far-right responding to forest fires in your countries?

I'm just curious how the far-right is framing these developments, and how it differs per country.

Are they mostly talking about the "pyromaniacs"?

Or about how governments failed to do organize the (supposedly normal) periodic low intensity fires to prevent the big ones?

Or are they simply not talking about it at all?

If you have any concrete links to local media, I would be very curious!

Weapons for defense only

One of the main challenges of maintaining peaceful international relations is the escalation of distrust and the ensuing arms race.

The possibility that others might attack you is a reason to arm yourself. But this step will in turn be interpreted as a threat by the other, who will in turn arm itself (even more). Etc.

Aren't there ways to simply invest in purely defensive weapons? So that your efforts to remain safe do not in turn threaten others? Which in turn allows others to also de-escalate?

In other words, are there military set-ups that are useless for offensive actions but good enough for defending a country?

Recommendations for new motorcycle?

Hi all, I have been lurking for some time here, but the time is coming for me to make a move and buy my own first motorcycle.

I am really drawn to the esthetics of the Royal Enfield 350 meteor, but it's quite a bit above my budget, which is around 11,000,000 COP (2500 EUR).

I am wondering if you have any tips for motorcycles that look somewhat similar (classic design) but are cheaper (probably because of lower cc)?

The Bajaj 150X might be an option. But maybe you have other/ better ideas?

Simple camera without 3rd party apps or accounts

Partly because of your help, I now have a pretty decent HA set-up with lights and motion sensors. I was wondering if I could again pick your brain/ experience with the next step I need to take: add a camera.

A few days ago I bought a TAPO camera, and to my disappointment it was practically impossible to get it working without an app + account. Luckily I could return it.

I now want to avoid making the same mistake 😬 And I would love to hear how you approached this.

Control light without 3rd party app

Hi all. I recently bought a Philips hue smart plug to control a lamp.

I quite quickly realized that it was more complex than I thought.

Not only did I need to install the DIYHue add-on to simulate a Hue bridge, I also needed to download the Philips Hue app, or some 3rd party app called Hue essentials, to connect the smart plug (via the DIYHue bridge add-on?) to the home assistant?

I don't want to install any app from Philips.

Also it didn't work.

Isnt there a way to simply control a bulb or plug from the home assistant, running on a Raspberry pi, without having to install any corporate bullshit?

Sorry for the swearing. Im just frustrated that this all turned out to be so complex.
