i made a set of custom dyed xb360 controllers (unsc x covenant)

I started with some knockoff clear shells and used this plus this for mister chef's but I think I used too much black. For barbieter, I used this and it was way more pink once done than I wanted. It probably could have used some black or blue added.

Both color sets were put in my heated ultrasonic cleaner at 50c for 20 minutes then removed, washed in cold water and allowed to dry. Heads up, the dye packets come with an intensifier, I used it on both but it has a weird chemical smell that lingers after you take and wash the parts. About a week on, they don't stink anymore.

The shells themselves were mid quality. The d-pads are super sloppy and the buttons stick so I used the original buttons from the first party shells. The gold shell I bought for the green accents needed the shoulder buttons and select button adjusted, it also came with 2 left triggers... Overall, I like how they came out. I wish the green was lighter but thats my fault. I may do some backlights or something in them to accent it but for now, its a unique setup and not sticky with 20 years of Doritos powder and baja blast.

Cross-section of smoked Tomahawk Ribeye and Fillets for Mother's Day

The ribeye was salted a day before and left on a wire rack in the fridge overnight, then smoked for about and hour at 225ish over mesquite and pulled when the internal temp hit about 110, then finished at 550ish. The bonus fillets at the front were because the family didn't think the 4lb Ribeye would be enough food, spoiler alert, I've been eating leftover steak all week.

Creative Zen Vision W ssd upgrade 30-256(128?)gb

It's been an ordeal but I'm (mostly) done with this. I tried using an iflash quad, a zif-cf-microsd adapter, and finally got this zif-msata adapter. The only one that worked is this setup. Worked is a loose term since this is supposed to be a 256gb ssd but its showing as 128gb... Anyways, the pictures below show the steps.

You need the firmware, software, and a 32 bit os to flash it. I'll add links later if I remember.

Remove the battery

Remove the 6 screws from the back

Not shown, remove the 4 silver screws from the sides, then the 2 from the compact flash card slot.

Separate the back from the case, there is a latch under the rubber flap, between the power jack and rca/usb port. I used a guitar pick to split it.

Remove the drive cover with the 4 small screws.

You should see the drive now, pull up on the black connector shell and pop the drive off. Then separate the zif cable by flipping the latch up and pull in the cable free. Keep the zif cable. I put a layer of kapton tape under the cable on the silver compact flash slot cover.

Put a layer of kapton tape on the mobo to keep the new drive adapter from doing any rubbing.

Attach the zif cable to the new drive adapter and install back in the connector. This positions your drive adapter where it needs to be.

Secure the drive adapter.

Here is the drive I used. Ymmv

Cover the back side of the ssd with kapton tape.

I used a little piece of foam to hold the rest of the stuff steady.

Reinstall the drive cover and assemble the rest of the unit. Boot to recovery mode by sliding the power switch over and holding it there while reconnecting the battery.

You need for select format drive and let it format, then you need to reload the firmware. To do that, you need the creative software. Ill upload that to a google drive or something. It requires a 32 bit os. I used an old netbook to do it.

As for why the capacity is wrong, I'm not sure. I could yank the drive out and find out, or I can leave it alone (option b is what I am doing)

I resurrected my old Creative Zen Vision W by modding the batteries with new cells.

I recently dug out my old Creative Zen Vision W but being circa 2006, the battery was roached. You can't get replacements anymore but since the battery is removable, I found some cheap pouch cells that were the right thickness and soldered them to the existing connector/charge control board.

The original was 1650mah iirc, the new ones are allegedly 2500. From some basic testing, I believe its more than it used to have. $15 all in, considering no one makes these anymore and NOS ones go for $190, I'm happy to have 2 functional ones again.
