Orrr, move to an instance that has the downvotes disabled. They don't exist if I can't see them ☺️

Ubuntu Linux Will Begin Landing AI Features Throughout The Next Year
This is going to be all about how they implement it imo. There was a specific line in that article "for those who want it", if they go for an opt-in approach which only then installs the AI capabilities, then yeah okay I don't mind as an end-user.
If however Canonical implement AI into Ubuntu without being opt-in, then I'm out and never turning back.

‘Stop Killing Games’ Got Its EU Parliament Hearing
Wasn't the "I worked at Blizzard" guy (can't think of their name right now) one of the most public people against Stop Killing Games?
Wonder what they have to say about all this now?

Previously awkward teens, how did you eventually figure it out?
I've gone up and down throughout my life, and these days I am quite an awkward individual in person.
However, what worked for me in my early 20s when I was probably at my most sociable was finding a hobby to interact with people in. Even something as simple as a monthly book group can work wonders on your social skills

Anyone want to play Peak with me?

gamedate.org really deserves to be promoted around gaming communities way more than it currently is!
So many older but still online shooters could be somewhat revived (even if only briefly), would love to play some Day of Infamy with a full server again!!

Best app to view lemmy on android
Not sure if it's available on F-Droid or not, but I've been using Summit lately and absolutely loving it. Blorp was my previous favourite, but I prefer the bit more modern and clean UI of Summit.
I did try Jerboa about a year ago when I first tried Lemmy, but quickly dropped it due to UI/UX issues I was experiencing at the time, but I would personally just stick with Blorp if it was between them.
Voyager was another I tried previously. Earlier I tried on my other phone (HMD Skyline) and consistently had performance issues with the app (long load times, occasional crashing, janky scroll). When I got my S25 I thought this would be solved with the more powerful device, and while it was much better than before, I still had performance issues.
Hope this helps a little!

What is a small thing you did that changed your life in a big way?
Reply in thread
This is my biggest thing I need to change in my life currently. I've been told so many times now that the weight I'm holding on to is most likely still due to the soft drinks and sugary energy drinks I consume way too much of

Do you fulfill a lot of stereotypes?
I'm a pretty geeky IT person, who is trans, watches anime, reads manga, and plays WoW.
Yeah I'm basically a walking stereotype at this point 😅

Third Step: Figure out where to live in the new city [In progress]
Fourth step: Move [TODO]

Why aren’t there more PC-first gamepads? Valve don’t know, but they "did see an opportunity" for the new Steam Controller

Souls like games are pretty much always far superior on controller imo over m+kb. M+kb just feels janky for me in souls likes

I wonder what ever happened to that manhole that got shot up by a nuclear explosion.

You dont, hence why only a lower limit could be established with a single frame capture.
Basically like saying "if we only got 1 frame, then it must be going faster than x mph/kph"

I distinctly remember getting this game as a kid.
I was with my Grandmother, and she took me to Cash Converters (a second hand shop) on the other side of town, and she allowed me to get 1 game. I remember seeing the cover of Descent and just being like 'whaaaaat' haha. I also ended up spending a lot of time playing this gem

Okay I just reread your post, as I missed the bit you mentioned about instances like blahaj hiding the downvotes.
So a couple of questions for you.
You mentioned the communities aren't on the instances that hide downvotes.. Are these communities that live on instances that are not federated with for example blahaj.zone?
And also, you mentioned that instances that are hiding downvotes is also not a solution due to the downvoter and others still being able to see the downvotes. So I ask, why is that an issue for you? Why be worried about fake internet points that aren't even really tracked here (unlike Reddit for example), that you can't even see? Actual engagement in discussion between people is far more important no?

How do you respond to "hey, how are you" when you feel like garbage?
Reply in thread
Something similar. I Normally go with "I'm breathing" if I really don't want to answer honestly and saying "good thanks" feels like too much of a stretch lol.
I find most people kind of laugh the answer off and continue with conversation from there

Artemis II is circling the moon today. Watch it live!
What's keeping me somewhat motivated with work today, is the knowledge that there humans hurling through space, seeing and experiencing things the overwhelmingly vast majority of humans will never see with their own eyes.
