With BioWare dead, EA lays out its 'next chapter,' and it's pretty much as predicted: Guns and football are fine, and everything else is under the microscope

Reply in thread

It's not just that they sell, it's that their audiences aren't as discerning. The guns and football guys will always buy the next guns and football games even if it sucks, even if it's full of ads, even if it's made by child slavery. They just want to shovel shit to the shit-eaters and get paid.

Waddling Padme

I mean, she was a politician. She was probably experienced with suppressing her emotions and trying to remain rational in frustrating situations.

Physically, though, the waddle should have happened.

God, wouldn't that be nice?

Bring back video games where the developers make them to be fun and players play them to have fun.

Too many developers are in it for profit and too many players demand optimal competitive play.

Sometimes I don't want to conform to the min/max meta, Jason.

What does the world think of India?

India is one of the last places I'd like to visit. This is based on how India has been portrayed in various travel shows over the years (Amazing Race, Top Gear). It looks crowded, dirty, and the locals often aren't very friendly, especially towards women.

One of your main exports to the west is scam calls. It's a huge PR problem and your government refuses to address it. Your other main export right now is Russian oil.

Indians used to have a fairly large online presence in English-speaking spaces with mixed results. There were a lot of helpful tech bros on YouTube, but also a lot of horny dudes on Facebook. I don't really see much of either of those anymore though.

My wife works in software testing and has regular interactions with Indians. Some are really nice, but others are really not. Misogyny is far too common and when Indians are rude they are boldly rude.

People who were fired on their first day at work/saw somebody get fired their first day at work: What happened that led to the firing?

Back in 2007 I worked in an office that required basic MS Excel / Word competency. The office manager led her to her desk and instructed her to turn on her computer (nothing fancy, a basic workstation with a large round button).

She couldn't figure out how to turn it on. The office manager sent her home and she never came back.

Man, just existing on Tatooine is hard work.

-It's a desert planet run by crime lords.

-The natives carry rifles and kidnap people just to torture them to death.

-There are little goblins driving tanks around the countryside stealing anything that isn't sand.

-The sand is rough and coarse and irritating and it gets everywhere.

Anon blames millennials

I mean, kind of, but not really.

It all started with Halo. Back in the late 90s and early 00s the movie industry was the big money maker of entertainment and there was actually a lot of anti-gaming rhetoric in news and politics. The weekend Halo 3 released it was so popular that it disrupted the box office numbers for a couple of movies. The movie executives decided to stop trying to kill the gaming industry and take it over instead.

So I guess you can blame millennials for playing Halo instead of going to the movies that weekend.
