Diplomacy dies on live TV as Trump and Vance gang up to bully Ukraine leader

I just can't understand why Vance would interpret Zelenskyy as being disrespectful for politely, calmly, and carefully articulating his point of view on how diplomacy has failed him and his country. Vance seems like the type of person I would basically laugh at and walk away from if I were in a situation to have to hear him be "alpha and in-charge".

It was like watching a scene from an episode of a reality TV show from the early 2000s.

Hackintosh is (almost) dead

An interesting and, sadly, accurate read. I will miss building my Hacks, but I knew as soon as Apple announced their switch to arm64 that the good times were over.

Maybe sometime in the future we’ll have a powerful and open arm64 system that we can somehow run Apple Silicon macOS on?

What's the worst someone got away with doing to you?

I had a drunk driver crash into my car parked in front of my house at 3:15 in the afternoon and completely totaled the car. He sped away as I watched and so I called the police. They did catch up with him, but ultimately when it went to court the district attorney dropped the ball on some document details and the fuckhead basically got out of any sort of restitution. He did have his license revoked and probation, but my family no longer had a car and it seriously fucked us for well over a year.

I live in a small town and a couple years later I found out that the guy is not only related to the local judge, but also the district attorney.

Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia: state appeal denied by 4th circuit [PRIMARY SOURCE]

I'd like to see more posts like this honestly, I know reading these things aren't for everyone, but having the actual document and (hopefully) the discussion of it is exactly how I'd like to be getting my news and information these days. I'm tired of our filtered world.

Some serious judicial indictment of the federal government to be found in there regarding the disregard of the constitution.

“The government is asserting a right to stash away residents of this country in foreign prisons without the semblance of due process that is the foundation of our constitutional order."

Yeah.

Here's an exercise in extreme masochism:

“Medium: Same as easy but go from the derivative to the base.”

I can't quite recall, but I think I did exactly that with Ubuntu -> Debian once upon a time. I think Ubuntu was only a year or so old though, so there wasn't a huge amount of divergence back then. As a bonus anecdote I also attempted a semi-successful build of Gentoo on a PPC Mac around the same time (nothing before or after that has compared in its level of nightmare).

Meta whistleblower Sarah Wynn-Williams says company targeted teens with advertisements based on their ‘emotional state’

It is absolutely baffling that people don't realize that people are the product. I've had some folks tell me that they understand and "don't care" because the service is "free" or whatever, but then they get angry and freaked out when the platform knows exactly what they're thinking, or at least seems to know.

There's definitely a deficit in understanding and education on what corporate social media really does.

Windows 11 now supports USB4 at 80Gbps, also known as USB 4 2.0 | Faster USB4 devices could start appearing in 2024

It is absolutely infuriating. It blows my mind that you can have a USB 3.2 Gen2 cable that does everything you need it to, except for the fact that it doesn’t support Power Delivery and a lot of the time you won’t even know, so if you’re sending high wattage through it there’s a real possibility you’re gonna burn some to kind up.
