What's the best way to combat people's obsession with having good leaders and with leadership in general?

Even in conversation with other leftists I hear people talk about how so and so doesn't have good leadership skills or want someone to be a better leader. It's getting to me in a way I probably shouldn't allow it to, but I feel like that mentality is antithetical to the goal of communism and will only delay its arrival. How do we change that rhetoric?

I'm hoping this is the right comm for this sort of post, please direct me if a more suitable place exists.

Edit: I'm not specifically talking about politics. I'm also talking about leadership talk in the workplace.

People commenting coping methods aren't being helpful

I was looking at a couple of posts that express feelings of exhaustion and isolation that are extremely prevalent in modern life. And in the comments are people talking about how they're able to deal with those pressures. I don't think that's a real solution to the stated problems. The real solution is replacing the system that demands an exhausting and isolating existence for so many in order to maintain itself.

When someone says he feels alone, it's not helpful to recommend social clubs because the real problem is all the ways modern society inhibits community building and a lot of minor social interaction. When someone says he doesn't feel like he has time to take care of her physical health, it's not helpful to show your schedule to fit it into the busy day because the real solution is having more time available which is only possible if we change modern work culture.

Yes, it's possible for individuals within almost any system to find a stasis where you're able to fulfill your basic mental, social, and physical needs. It's even possible for individuals to thrive. But your solutions only work for you and maybe those with similar material conditions AND cognitive predispositions. Otherwise you're just making excuses for the level of harm modern capitalism places on people everyday.

Take care of yourself and resist where you can.

Any AV techs / live engineers here?

I have a couple thinkpads loaded with windows 11 pro, would it benefit me to switch them over to Linux? Would I be able to use all the essential programs (or equivalent programs) that I would need to cover all my bases?

Edit: I should probably include that I'm a complete noob as far as Linux goes. I have a decent handle on computers in the general but have never been close to being any sort of computer enthusiast. Basically, I understand what terminal is but have only used it with direct instruction.

[discussion] cars are so fucking stupid

Minor rant. I got new tires last year. Today i went to get my oil changed and while I was there I asked for my tires to be rotated. They found a puncture of a nail or something right on the edge so the patch would need to be on the side wall which no one does. The only place around that sold used tires doesn't do that anymore. If i wanted to get it fixed it was going to cost me $200 to replace the tire. I did not drive in any crazy places, just got unlucky enough that my personal 2 ton death machine found this tiny little piece of metal that I wouldn't have even had a chance to see and avoid, and got it stuck in a place that's apparently unfixable.

On top of all the ways car culture has destroyed our landscapes and controls our cities, the car is designed in such a way to be the biggest financial burden possible. What other thing do we have where you can use it as intended, but there's a decent chance for the equivalent of a splinter to make your hand stop working?!

Currently have a minivan

I don't know how much to expect from a comm that's so dead it's never even been alive, but I'll try anyway.

I love my car, but it's not long for this world. Thinking about what I want to get next. The reasons I have the minivan I do are storage capacity with decent fuel economy (FE) and a brand with long term reliability. The reason I'm asking here is because I wouldn't mind getting something a little smaller. Honestly, I kind of want a PT Cruiser, but I'm exploring the idea of something newer (built within the last 10 years), maybe even brand new. That and I don't think they pass the reliability test.

I don't really want an SUV because FE and there's always less interior space than you'd think. Don't want a truck because FE and I want the storage to be climate controlled. Would be interested in a hatchback, is Subaru my only real option? Also, I can't do full electric because I don't have a place to plug it in. Could I get a plug in hybrid to just plug in away from home? I may end up getting another minivan though.

TL;DR I'm looking for

  • Good fuel economy (hybrid preferred)

  • Internal storage capacity (climate controlled)

  • Affordable (within reason)

What are my options?

Can someone tell me if my plan is good or not?

So I'm getting ready to build a patio with a flower box on 2 sides. Please let me know if there's a better community for this question. First I'll talk about the patio.

I think I need to have a wood border to the patio to make sure it all stays together, especially because where it's going has a minor slope. I'm hoping to use flagstone and I would like the spaces between the stones to be filled with moss. Where I'm digging up already grows moss naturally so I'm hoping to just save that moss and have the top layer before the stones be dirt and use that moss to fill in the gaps.

For the flower box, I'm thinking I'm going to use some .75"x2'x4' boards, sink them a foot into the ground so they're 3' tall (mostly to keep away groundhogs), then use some 2x4s to stabilize the walls and a few bracers going across. Then fill it with dirt and start planting.

Is there anyone here with enough experience to approve my plan? Am I over engineering or is that a good idea for someone good at being sloppy and who hasn't done this before? Should I fill the bottom of the flower box with rocks or something to save money on dirt? Any changes I should make to my design? I do have a schematic I made if you think that would help make sense of my idea.

Thanks for reading!

Edit: Schematic!
