Speedy Delivery

Reply in thread

I can't believe you're really taking his comment seriously?! He made a post about Santa's reindeer and sleigh vaporizing due to the speed of travel. It's supposed to be absurd, not a science lesson.

It's a little ironic that you say NDT is annoying for his joke while complaining that his math (from a joke) does'nt make sense.

Don't 🏴‍☠️ games. But if you can only afford to buy on shady game 🗝️key stores, then save 💵💶💴 and 🏴‍☠️ instead

Reply in thread

What do you mean "companies steal and sell them". How? Like they are hacking into the email accounts of streamers and stealing and selling the key before the streamer can activate it?

Or they are stealing them from the developer directly somehow?

I don't see how this would be feasible...

More likely that the streamer or reviewer receiving the free key is selling it on these marketplaces.

The point of the made up saying is to demonstrate that LLMs are just yes men.

What if you mishear a saying or phrase you hear in the street? You ask an LLM and it confidently tells you some BS about what it means, how often it's used, and it's origins. Even providing sources that lead to, at best, unrelated phrases.

How is that helpful?

A real person would likely say, "I've never heard that one before" rather than try to gaslight you (hopefully!)

Also, kids today still know what a phone is and what its used for. It doesn't take a genius to realise that phone boxes aren't needed anymore now that everyone has a phone in their pocket.

And where do you draw the line?

For example, do you think CSAM should be legal as long as those in the material are fictional?

If you think that is not okay, would it make a difference to you if those in the material were not "realistic" (but still underage)?

I don't think people are suggesting it should be illegal because they personally don't want to see it, but rather because they believe that it is damaging to society as a whole.

World Cup tourists aren’t leaving tips — and restaurants are fighting back

Reply in thread

Why are you saying "In theory"? and "Supposed to"? Wouldn't not making up the difference in these cases be illegal?

What I'm hearing is that if everyone decided not to tip, then servers would(should) still walk away with minimum wage. So servers aren't incentivised to change the system because sometimes they take away more than minimum?

Except the same is true for other tipping cultures, minimum living wage is garunteed, tips are extra.

Seems like the US has the same outcome in terms of meeting minimum wage but with many complications and without the legal protections for the employee.
