Israel targeted Gaza children resulting in genocide, UN inquiry says

Reply in thread

Oh yes, in front of the security Council where the US will just veto the idea of punishing Israel for its crimes against humanity.

No, the only hope we have now to stop Israel is somehow Iran closing the straight until Israel stops invading Lebanon. What a horrible world we live in where Iran has somehow become a better force for good than the west, especially when they're a heinous tyrannical regime.

it's good to look in the mirror and understand the material outcomes of voter behavior

Reply in thread

This isn't a good way of looking at it. You can only vote for the difference.

Say both sides want to genocide Gaza, you're against that, I'm against that, we're all against that but it's not on the ballot. By not voting you're agreeing that Gaza is something you'll have to manage outside of the electoral system BDS, protests, direct action... Whatever.... We both agree we have to do something about genocide other than vote.

However other things WERE on the ballot, immigrant rights, trans rights. By not voting or wasting your vote you let down those groups. You broke your promise to be in solidarity with them and now they're suffering.

Hey back in solidarity and act on all fronts including voting every time in the most effective way to support eachother.

What's Left by anarchist Malcolm Harris explains exactly this (and a whole lot more about how we beat the climate crisis through solidarity with various leftist factions).

Zelenskyy: Nawrocki is doing what Orbán did. This will end badly

Because the unit fought both Nazis and Soviets to try to carve out an independent Ukraine. The attack on the poles wasn't the "main" thing they did. It was also an insurgency unit not a regular unit so it's hard to treat them as one thing. The only people who consider it the main thing are the Poles.

Here is the Polish deputy Science minister on the matter and probably one of the few rational voices in the debate

It was a unit that — regardless of what you say about the Volhynia massacre — fought for Ukraine’s independence,” Szeptycki said in a radio interview, and compared the UPA to Poland’s anti-communist guerrillas after the end of World War II.

Why is leadership valued so much over expertise?

Reply in thread

All the answers are bullshit. The real explanation is that leaders set salaries. Of course they're going to value themselves over others. Then they're going to rationalise it with the bullshit you see in this thread about "force multipliers" etc... it's basic capitalism. It's the same reason politicians in the us have free healthcare and great vacation and benefits and salaries rising above inflation, the people who control these things always make sure they get what's fair then make excuses for why no one else does.

Watch the so-called "leaders" down vote for being called out. Workers do the work, "leaders" get the pay, owners get the profit. Why? Because the "leaders" are the tools of the capitalist class to exploit workers so they get rewarded. Basic capitalism.

Anon has his way

"do what you want to me" is my least favourite dirty talk. The base idea is that we both currently WANT to do the same dirty rough sex but for some reason we're not doing it. What makes her think he's NOT doing what he wants right now? What if he's a for fetishist and wants to put her foot in his mouth and jerk off? What if he just wants her to eat his ass?

Clearly "do what you want to me" doesn't mean do what you want to me. "do what you want to me" means "I have a specific type of rough sex in mind but I'm not able to express my desires clearly, so I've projected them into my partner and I've made it their responsibility to understand me and do the right type of sex stuff to me"

I know this is basically an unhinged response to a greentext but I've had so many bad experiences with that specific line. Is wanting clear communication before and during sex about the sex we're about to perform too much to ask for?

$500K Dune Built to Protect Coastal Homes Lasts Just 3 Days

I love this story. From people banding together and building a sand barrier on the beach to stop the ocean. To the idea that they MUST know sandbags exist but they never considered why people don't just skip the bags and dump sand, to not one person mentioning climate change or sea level increase even though that's clearly the problem, to the one guy saying "it's mother nature you just have to accept it". 5 stars, would deny climate change and fix the problem with sand piles again.

I mean the officer was clearly scared for his life. I know to you and me that seems absurd, but police officers are hand-picked and trained to be the biggest cowards imaginable. Several people are killed by babies (with guns) each year in the US and that makes them logically scarier than half the shit police officers are scared of.

I can't believe he even entered a home that had a known baby in it, it's almost as scary as entering a school with an active shooter!

What's some sex ed info you didn't know until embarrasingly late?

Breaking a hymen when you first have sex is indeed a myth, but so is the idea that sufficient arousal will prevent tearing every hymen.

Hymens come in all sorts of shapes and sizes and elasticities. They can tear from many things but most people with hymens are quite likely to experience minor tearing or bleeding the first time they have sex. That's especially true if the hymen is particularly large or thick and if you haven't torn it before the first time you had sex.

That's the last myth, even if breaking a hymen was a real thing required for sex, it doesn't say anything about virginity because many girls tear it in childhood and puberty from a variety of activities as innocuous as swimming.
