Afaik, lemmy.ml never gave a reason as to why they defederated with us. Which is obviously fair, they are their own instance, and can make that decision. However, it most likely has to do with their strict "no porn" rule, since if members want to upload or view content from lemmynsfw.com, their servers would have to handle that and a lot of instance admins don't like the thought of having to manage explicit/sensitive content like what we have.

Because they know that ultimately the layuser will stay on reddit. Super sad to see, but maybe if subreddits like r/movies stay dark indefinitely it may push them to make at least some changes to their current stance.

If not and they just swap moderators, the outcry might be pretty bad.

With the current rules we've laid down, not necessarily. It mostly refers to posting individuals who are minors, which doesn't technically apply to drawings or AI Generated Content. However I do agree that the possibility of getting defederated is very real, so I'm not going to encourage it. It's in the grey-zone for now, and I'm not sure how the other Admins view it.

I personally find it extremely distasteful, but don't care as long as it doesn't hurt real people or get too extreme.

Maybe we'll have to wait and see what the instance's userbase thinks, but I have a feeling it's likely to be prohibited on LemmyNSFW.

Best way to get a community rolling is to just try to post as much as you can at the beginning and wait, especially as we're still unbelievably small compared to all of reddit's nsfw communities lol.

If we can make our own patches to lemmy we could supply a nsfl tag which could be distinctly different to the nsfw tag in that it:

1. Doesn't show to people who have nsfl disabled
2. Doesn't federalize this content or share it outside of lemmynsfw, but then that would defeat the purpose of lemmy idk

Jerboa is still in development so I'd still personally recommend the webui. We're working on disabling the blur on posts.

Currently the rules are outlined on the lemmy sidebar. These rules apply to both communities and users. There are no current limits for communities outside of these rules for the moment.

100% agree. People nowadays are used to easier applications to navigate, and there's nothing wrong with that. Not everyone has the time or patience to wrap their head around what's usually quite a dense look.
