Scientists Took Semen Onto A "Vomit Comet" Flight, And The Results Were Concerning

After sparing this paper a fair bit of attention I feel I've wasted it.

Nowhere in the paper could i find in what conditions the test samples were kept during the experiment. This is pretty basic stuff. At this stage I'd wage sloshing was the issue.

Reading this part of the methodology:

"2.2 Initial sperm analysis

After liquefaction...

[Two paragraphs later, in the same section: ] After this first analysis, the 15 sperm samples were split into two fractions. All the samples were exposed to 'Parabolic flight' (split 1) and to..."

Did they liquefied the samples and tested like that? Whaa?

The "After this first analysis" should not be in the "2.2 Initial sperm analysis". It just shouldn't!

Then I think "15 sperm samples were split into two fractions". ... "the samples were exposed to 'Parabolic flight' (split 1)" --- splits, fractions, what a mess!! At this stage I've wasted enough.

The paper should be retracted, the reviewers spanked and the editor fired.

I had also been using Reddit for over a decade. I'm only now realising how early I got on Reddit's boat. Was mostly just a lurker but, apart from WhatsApp, the only social media, and main news source (tad cringe, yea). Your comment hist made me think where is the /c/atheism around here. PS: I keep coming here almost everyday. If you ever feel you need to reach out to a stranger, likely across the world, drop me a DM.

Husbands 'create extra seven hours of housework a week'

To bad the news article does not cite the original study. Coming from the Independent it does not have a lot of credence. But it is a news piece written by Reuters. Even there it does not have the sources of the data. In Scholar the only work that uses the expression "[husbands] 'create extra seven hours of housework a week"' is an opinion piece about a book. A book by Caroline Criado Perez where I suppose the reference and context of the original study (from University of Michigan) exists. Suppose. Maybe.

I see a lot of potential for misquotation of the original study.

Is this moka pot fixable?

You say it broke relatively recently, so likely only one thing has failed. That seems to be the o-ring. As others have said, that is easily replaceable.

But ...

I think you haven't included all the parts in the photo. Or is that just it?

What is the status of the funnel where you place the ground coffee?

Also, how does the side safety valve look like? It should be on the side of the bottom compartment. The moka works with vapour pressure. A good valve is needed.

As others said, NO dishwasher. And I would also avoid much scrubbing. The moka is made out of aluminum which is a soft metal, easily damaged by acids, and with harsh scrubbing.

Coming to you soon...

PeerTube looks quite promising with its decentralised model. Surely it will never be perfect. But decentralisation is essencial. Also because the types of videos I like to see in YouTube either are monetised by themselfs in some way. Or are not monetised at all. YouTube does not seem necessary for those creators.

What fresh hell is this?

Yes!

My Xiaomi Redmi 11 keeps telling me the Calculator can't use the network (why?) and keeps asking me to accept the privacy policy.

Also the app wallpaper - the one that changes the locked screen background image (important complex stuff /s) - also keeps asking me to accept the privacy policy.

And, as far as my reading of the policy goes, these privacy policies are just the one, it's not a different one for each app.
