The Curse

Foot fetishes routinely come up more historically when there is a larger std concern.

People hear about diseased junk and become turned on about other things.

If you look through history, when there are large STD outbreaks afterwards foot fetish content rose.

Our brains are wired to be turned on by other things when the bits are diseased.

Children Missing the Cue

Businesses that give away free drinks and whatnot to cops tend to have more cops around, and if a place is known to have more cops around they tend to get stolen from less.

Legal small bribes. It is why places like Speedway have a button for free police beverage. They want cops to stop by on their breaks so people regularly see cop cars in the parking lot.

MAGAts be all ...

I work in a gas station, there is a MAGA regular who is constantly complaining about how broke she is, she buys 2 packs of unfiltered camels a day, that's $14.60 a pack, over $800 a month just for cigarettes cause she buys the most expensive packs in the store.

Harris proposes raising the corporate tax rate to 28%, rolling back a Trump law

Reply in thread

The higher the corporate tax rates the more the companies reinvest into the company to keep profit margins down which causes the economy to flourish rather than funneling as much cash as possible to shareholders.

Companies generally would rather pay their own workers more than pay more in taxes. If you're going to lose the money anyway, might as well spend it keeping your workforce happy than give it to the government.

Sinclair ends its Jimmy Kimmel boycott | CNN Business

He's kind of an asshole. He believes that men can't be friends with women. Basically that the only reason to befriend a woman is to try to sleep with her.

He's cheated on his wives and then blamed his wives for letting him be around women.

He'll get married, cheat on her, blame her for not stopping him, get divorced, repeat.

He's made some anti-gay comments as well.

And some other just general asshole things.

Reddit repost bots are spam, and that needs to be stopped.

People set them up to help grow communities by having a lot of content but it just kills them instead. I opened a Linux gaming community and it was 95% just bot reposts from the Linux gaming subreddit, all with zero comments and 1 or maybe 2 up votes per post. It just makes you not want to comment at all cause what is the point?

I came to Lemmy to get away from reddit, bot reposts just funnel traffic back to reddit. The endless reposts just leads to the one conclusion of "Oh, this is all just links to reddit, I should just go directly to reddit as it will be a better source for this content."

Meanwhile I stumbled upon another community that barely had any posts and it has much more interaction because the few users that -are- there feel much more included. In the early 2000s I was part of several forums that really only had about 10 active members, but they were active and eventually saw growth. People join and see a small group of people talking and then join in the conversation.
