Businesses cannot effectively function when the government is clowning around like this.

The one and only downside to wearing crocs
I love my crocs and wear them during the warm months of the year.
They are also not good in the rain.
I wear socks with them and give them a good soapy wash frequently. Never had any smell issues.
They are great for traveling. They pack well and are easy going through security. Last year in Aruba I was pulled aside for secondary screening and they took my crocs to dust for explosives. I thought that was odd. I would never think of putting explosives in a pair of holey shoes lol.

What did we learn from Covid? (Jen Sorensen)
Reply in thread
It's amazing how quickly we adapt and forget. But when I stop and think about it life was so different before Covid and it's just never been the same. My workplace has just never been able to adjust to the staffing shortages and it's hell.

Which movies have aged like fine wine? (either in their message or cinematography)
Road to Perdition has some of the best cinematography I have ever witnessed.

I recently watched the following program on PBS: Nazi Town, USA which described the rise of fascism in America at the same time as the Nazis in Germany. It was an eye opening experience and one that has a hauntingly similar essence to our current situation in the USA.

Describing/imagining being high when you're sober.

I enjoy a few hits a couple times per week. Gives me a very mild buzz and helps me sleep better. I have no desire to get high.

What do you miss from the old internet?
Reply in thread
Yes I miss the forums I used to visit. I was a moderator on a couple and it was a bit of a slog but still enjoyable. I started using the internet in 1996/97 and watched it evolve all these long years. It's definitely morphed into a corporate wasteland.

Voting third party gives more power for the former president to win. I am not taking that chance. I think we have a better chance at working with the current administration to intervene positively after the election. If the orange menace gets in he will likely take the Israel/Palestine war to new levels.

I met so many interesting people that way. And I loved the creativity of their blogs. It's gone like the corner candy store (which I actually remember).

Crazy times indeed. My cousin brought home an Egyptian guy she met on the internet in the early 2000s. Turned out to be just fine but it seemed sketchy at the time.

Why is Facebook still so insanely popular?
Reply in thread
I started a facebook account in 2006 and stopped using it a few years later. I still have an account but only look at it maybe 2 or 3 times a year.
I hate when I have to log in to find a business though. It 's infuriating.
And I hate reddit with the glare of a thousand suns.
