Hey Everyone,

I'm looking to get an air compressor for some work around the house. It would mostly be used for nail guns to replace siding and trim. However, I do want to be able to spray wall texture occasionally (The walls have been "fixed" in various spots and I'm probably going to redo entire walls. A couple of walls are so bad I think they just threw the sprayer in the room and ran away). I'm fine with going slow when spraying texture as long as I can still get a good result. The compressor I'm looking at is a 6 gallon @ 175 PSI, with 3.0 SCFM @ 90 PSI. This seems perfect for nail guns ( I think), but texture guns seem to consume 2-9 SCFM. Do you that will be fine for periodic use, or will it be maddening slow? My goal would be to texture and paint a roughly 10ft by 12ft room in a weekend. I'll be using a roller and brush for paint so that is not a concern.

Hey All, I'm thinking of replacing my Nvidia shield with an htpc. My concern is dolby vision and atmos playback. My TV (Hisense U8N) and Soundbar (Samsung HW-Q990D) support the formats, does the streaming device need to as well? I'm mostly using 4k blu rays that I've ripped to a plex server. I thought that using hdmi passthrough would allow DV and atmos to work, but I'm getting mixed info in my googling. Any help would be much appreciated!

I wanted to add wheels to my hammock so I could easily move it into shade throughout the day. Some openscad later and came up with this little bracket. Uses a clevis pin for an axle, and just pops into the metal tube feet of the hammock.

I went to put in an outlet with charging ports and found this monstrosity behind the wall plate. The box is filled with expanding foam, I'm guessing as some kind of support? Then painted all over. I scraped it all out, put in outlet spacers and its much better. I think there's foam around the box too, but I'm not gonna worry about that (yet).

Now I get to spend next weekend replacing all the outlets in the house just in case there's any more sketchy "fixes" 🫠

Hey all, I'm upgrading to 2 gb fiber internet, and I'm looking to swap my router for an opnsense build. I'm looking to build a matx PC using the Intel x540 t2. I know the 2x10gbe connections need more processing power compared to the recommended specs on opnsenses site. But I have no idea what cpu to get. I'm looking at the i5-6500T since it's low power and I already have a compatible mobo laying around. Is that too old for this application? Full stack would be the fiber ONT 10gb port - > this opnsense build - > 8 port 2.5 gb switch with a 10gb uplink port. Will probably have less than 20 devices connected at once, with only a couple of them capable of using the full internet speed.

Any other advice is more than welcome as this is my first dive into networking.

Not sure if anything is actually needed. It just looks unstable. Power is already run to the shed, so it might be difficult to move and do a full concrete pour. I was thinking of lifting with a car jack and finding a better combination of pavers to remove the wood wedges, but I'm open to any ideas. And it is on a slope, the other end is on pavers on the ground. This stack of pavers was the previous owners attempt at levelling I guess.

Over the next year or so, we're looking to replace our wood floors, all the base boards, all interior & exterior doors, and door trim. Since the wife and I both work full time, we're thinking we'd focus on one at a time, and do it slowly over a few weekends and evenings. Is there an order that would make things easier? Like do floors before baseboards or vice versa? Is it even worth doing things one at a time?

The glossy dpad and ABXY buttons are too slick IMO. Does anyone know of good matte textured buttons? Preferably in just plain black but I'm not picky.

I did see the new extreme rate oled buttons but I haven't found anything describing their texture. Plus I'm not sold on clear buttons

No idea what the story behind this is. It's a single gang coax box, and just a hole next to it. Looks like previous owner started to patch the drywall by putting the backer in but gave up.

First time homeowner here. The house was previously owned by an investment firm who cut a lot of corners on renovations at some point. Does anyone have a good resource for fixing botch jobs? A lot of tutorials cover fixing or replacing things that were done properly before hand, and I don't want to spam forums with "How the he'll do I fix this monstrosity??"

My wife and I are quite shit at design but are pretty handy. We recently bought a house, and we want to make the backyard a great hang out spot, but have no idea how to make it look good. I contacted a local landscaper about just paying for a design/plan and we would just DIY it but they never called us back. Is this an okay thing to hire for? Or do landscapers usually want to do the work themselves?

I want to post my design on Printables but my scad file uses a threads library found here. Should I just add a comment above the "use" statement with a link on where to get the library?

Meet Kronk! We adopted him ~3 years ago, after being given up on by 2 other families. When we adopted him, it was clear he was never socialized and is very reactive to other dogs and some people (Specifically men, which makes me wonder what kind of life he had as a pup). We've been working with a specialized Vet and Trainer for 2 years now, and he's on some anxiety meds. He's improved quite a bit, but he's also gotten quite protective of my wife. So while I can walk him with only small reactions, my wife cannot. He's very reactive and is a bite risk when someone gets close. And since he's a cutie black lab, everyone wants to get close to pet him even when he's actively snapping at them since they're "Good with dogs" 😑 Anyways, we found a place that does a 3 week board and train to work with aggression, but I'm not sure how effective they are. I don't think he's going to get much better with us, since we have to focus on safety instead of training. And since he's been given up on twice, I don't want him to think we're abandoning him since its a long program. Does anyone have experience with these type of training programs?

Looking for recommendations on a streaming box to connect my TV to plex. I have a lot of 4k blu ray rips averaging 80-100mbps and I'm struggling to find a client that can handle it. First I had a Roku, which had network bandwidth issues. So I moved to the new fire stick 4k max, which still buffers like crazy. I don't think its network related because its pulling 500mbps down, and my laptop (which pulls 300 down) can stream it just fine. So any recommendations on a tv streaming box? I've seen the Nvidia shield, and the Mecool KM2 plus deluxe but want to get some opinions before buying anything. Thanks!
